Beverly June Merck passed away peacefully on February 4, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born on May 26, 1932, in Eckman, North Dakota, to the proud parents Walter Herdt and Ida Salseg.
After completing her education, she embraced the role of a devoted stay-at-home mother, pouring her love and care into raising her children. Her nurturing instincts extended beyond her immediate family, as she also worked as a housekeeper, spreading her warmth and hospitality to others.
In the winter of 1952, Beverly embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship when she married the love of her life, Joseph Merck, in Helena, Montana. Their union was characterized by unwavering devotion and mutual respect, serving as an inspiration to all who knew them. Together, they shared the joys and challenges of life, cherishing every moment spent in each other’s company.
She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bagley, Minnesota, for 40 years. Following their move to Moorhead, Minnesota, around a decade ago, she continued her spiritual journey as a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead.
She had a gift for storytelling and was known for her ability to bring joy and laughter to any gathering. Her jovial spirit and quick wit made her a beloved member of social gatherings, where her presence was always a delight.
Beverly cherished her role as a mother and set out to be the best mom she could be. Her dedication to her children was unwavering, and she reveled in the joys and accomplishments of their lives. Additionally, she took great pride in her role as a grandmother, adoring her grandchildren with all her heart.
In pursuit of personal growth, Beverly pursued a new career path later in life. At the age of 57, she graduated from nursing school and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for several years.
Those most honored to share Beverly’s life include her daughters, Arletta Mutnansky, Goodridge, Minnesota, Gloria (Duane) Tougas, Fargo, North Dakota, and Beverly Hilliard, Grand Forks, North Dakota; sons Joel (Wendy) Merck, Thief River Falls, Minnesota, Gerald (Marie) Merck, Bagley, Minnesota and Tommy Merck of Dilworth, Minnesota.
