Bonnie’s Service will be available below:
Bonita (Bonnie) Kay Sims, 68, of Fargo, N.D., loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo, N.D. on Monday, August 22, 2022, due to health complications.
Bonnie was born on August 14, 1954, in Ada, M.N., to Robert and Mildred (Erstad) Brooks of Mapleton, N.D. She was raised in Mapleton, N.D., and graduated from Mapleton High School in 1972. At this time, she met the love of her life, Rodger Sims, and they were married in Enderlin, N.D. in 1975. Rodger and Bonnie raised their three sons in Grand Forks, N.D., where they were passionate fans of their sporting and school events. During her time in Grand Forks, Bonnie served as a CNA and at-home daycare provider.
Later, Rodger and Bonnie moved to Fargo, N.D. in the summer of 2006. Throughout her life, Bonnie found joy in loving children and caring for and being with people. She enjoyed conversations with friends and family, crocheting, cooking, going out for coffee, and meeting new people. At an early age, Bonnie discovered her love of dancing and oldies music, sharing the passion with her late husband, siblings and their spouses, cousins, children, and grandchildren.
Bonnie will be dearly missed by her three sons, Bryan (Paige) Sims, Fargo, N.D., Chris (Jessica) Sims, West Fargo, N.D., and Jonathan (Courtney) Sims, Minot, N.D.; lovely grandchildren, Rhianna, Emmalyn, Alexa, Isaac, Colby, Lydia, Laila; brothers, Larry Brooks, Fargo, N.D., Dana Brooks, West Fargo, N.D., and Bobbie Brooks, Fargo, N.D.; sisters, Janet Johnson, Durbin, N.D., and Kathy Kirchoffner, West Fargo, N.D., and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodger Sims, father, Robert Brooks, mother, Mildred (Erstad) Brooks, and brother, Kelly Brooks.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Bonnie Sims Memorial Fund at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
Special thanks to Bethany Retirement Living, Fr. Phil Ackerman, Fr. Duane Pribula, and Dn. Allen Kukert.

Fargo ND 58102,
Bonnie – I will miss our lunch dates we would have. We tried for once a month even in the winter when the roads weren’t great for you to drive but you insisted we should meet to catch up. So we did. You will be missed.
Rest In Peace, Bonnie.
Bonnie manifested a quiet, yet bubbling spirit of kindness and love in her womanly nature. I am very sure that she served dozens of people in her valued “professional ministry” with a spirit of outstanding generously and gracious humility. She lived and practiced those Christian virtues in her marriage and as mother & grandmother…first of all! Christ Jesus will indeed welcome Bonnie into the joys and dances of heaven and He will say, “Bonnie, welcome into my house of Glory. You are a faith-filled daughter of your Divine Abba Father. Your spiritual descendants will be blessed by your prayers for each one of them! ALLELUIA!”
Bonnie was a wonderful lady and great support of her boys. Our thoughts and prayers are with the extended Sims family.
Chris, John and Brian,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother, Bonnie. Bonnie was always a class act with a kind spirit and big heart. I remember and think back fondly of all the great times on North 25th Street in Grand Forks. The ‘block’ wouldn’t have been the ‘block’ without the Sims family. Your mom will be totally missed by our family. She was a wonderful person.
Kind Regards,
Travis

Bryan, Chris, and Jon – I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. Bonnie was an incredible person. I’ll always remember seeing her at Church or at our sporting events together growing up. I’m grateful for how supportive she was of everyone. Bonnie had such a big heart. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
