Boyd Palmer passed away on July 27, 2026 at the age of 73 in Fargo, ND.
Boyd was born on April 1, 1953 in Harvey, ND to Howard and Ione (Meland) Palmer. He grew up in Wellsberg, ND and moved to Fargo, ND when he was in first grade. He graduated from Fargo North High School in 1971 and North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton in 1973.
On March 19, 1988, he married Doris Ost, in Fargo, ND. Together they welcomed their daughter, LeeAnn, and made their home in Fargo. In retirement, they spent their time between Fargo, the Farm near Detroit Lakes, Grand Forks visiting LeeAnn’s family, and enjoying winters in Arizona.
Throughout his life, Boyd was known for his patience, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. He cherished every moment spent with his grandsons, especially taking them on four-wheeler and tractor rides, creating memories they will carry with them forever. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by those he loved.
As an avid outdoorsman, Boyd found peace and happiness in nature. He enjoyed hunting, motorcycle trips, and spending time outdoors. His love for the outdoors reflected his calm spirit and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.
Boyd is survived by his wife Doris, daughter LeeAnn (Tom) Miller, grandsons Oscar and Wallace Miller, brother Bruce (Debbie) Palmer, sister Jeanne Palmer, and nieces Karly (Nathan) Hippe, Jamie (Bryan) Anderson, Kaitlyn (Jon) Krogen and Kelsey (Jake Fauchald) Krogen, extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo, ND. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Family and friends are invited to remain after the service for desserts and lemonade as we gather to celebrate his life and share memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be directed to Friends of Tamarac, or that you honor Boyd’s memory by performing an act of kindness, spending time outdoors, or cherishing time with your loved ones—especially your grandchildren—as Boyd so dearly loved to do.
