Brenda Halloway, 62, Fargo, ND passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo.
After years of health issues, she is now at peace with God.
Brenda was born November 20, 1960 in Moorhead, MN, the daughter of Don and Marge (Kittelson) Hofsommer. Don and Marge moved with their children through the years before returning to Fargo permanently. Brenda graduated from Fargo South High School and worked at Monarch Photo for several years before becoming a dental hygienist. She lived with long time partner Kent Nelson and their son Elliott Nelson.
Years later, while working at Moorhead HealthCare, she met and married Ed Halloway on January 24, 2002. The couple established their home in North Fargo. As members of the Elks Lodge they had numerous friends. Ed’s passion for camping and fishing soon became Brenda and Elliott’s.
Brenda was loved by many and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son, Elliott Nelson; parents, Don and Marge Hofsommer; siblings, Jill (Blain) Kesler; Julie (Kevin) Allen; Nephews/Nieces, Ben Hofsommer; Josh (Rita) Kesler; Matt (Jesse) Kesler; Lynsey (Josh) Johnson; Jacob Allen; Nolan Allen and many cousins.
Brenda was preceded in death by husband, Ed Halloway; brother, Scott Hofsommer and grandparents.
We are immensely grateful for the support we have received during this difficult time. For those of you who are asking how you can help us, a small donation would go a long way to help us pay for funeral expenses. Cards may be sent to Boulger, which will be forwarded to the family.

So very heartbroken to learn of Brenda’s passing. Sending much love to her family during this very difficult time.
So sorry to hear of Brenda’s passing. Her and Ed were such fun at the Elks. I’d like to think that they’re together again having a good old time.
Many fond memories growing up with Brenda. What a sense of humor she had. We spent hours laughing, and having fun. At school or with friends. She and her family are in my prayers and thoughts.
DON AND FAMILY. PRAYERS AND THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU AT THIS TIME !!!! RON DURAND
To all of the Hofsommer family and all relatives of Brenda, my deepest condolences to all of you kind, beautiful people. I was at your house a lot growing up and Brenda was such a pretty girl. She always seemed glamorous to me with her large assortment of nail polishes and such a great big sister to Julie. May she rest in peace.
Miss your smiling face and laughter.
