Brian Elroy Ordahl, 71, of Kindred, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at his home. Born on February 13, 1955, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, Brian was the son of Norman and Clarice (Brekke) Ordahl. He graduated from Milnor High School in 1973 and went on to earn his associate degree in business from North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton.
Brian dedicated four decades of his life to the John Deere community. He started his career at Nelson Implement in Milnor until 1987 and later brought his expertise to RDO Equipment Co. in Kindred, where he continued to excel in his management role and later in sales until his retirement in 2015. He was passionate about his profession and committed to the relationships he had with many valued customers over the 40 years.
Brian married his beloved wife, JoAnn Fossen on June 18, 1988, in Fargo and resided in Kindred where they raised their two daughters. Together, they enjoyed building a life centered around family, travel, and shared experiences. Above all else, Brian absolutely adored spending time with his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He also found happiness helping friends on the farm, creating memories during trips to Cabo, and classic country music.
Brian loved a good laugh and had a knack for conversing. He will be remembered for his quick wit and humor. A man of meticulous nature, Brian had a passion for classic cars, John Deere collector items, and spotless vehicles. We will remember that he never had a dirty vehicle in his garage, snow on the driveway, or an unmanicured lawn. His attention to detail extended beyond his hobbies, resonating throughout his friendships and family ties.
Brian is survived by his beloved wife, JoAnn; children, Breanna (Bryce) Knowlen and Taya (Dustin) Erickson; and his devoted grandchildren, Kennedy, Rhett, and Karter. He also leaves behind his mother, Clarice; brother, Joel (Tanya) Ordahl; and sister, Teresa Hoiseth, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman, and his brother, Neil.

JoAnn and family. I am so sad for you for having to say goodbye to Brian. What a rough time for you to go through. I hope/pray that the love, the laughs you’ve shared, the memories you’ve made will help you through this difficult time. Continue to smile, laugh, and love. Those are just some of the ways you can keep Brian’s memory alive. Tina and Kelly Rustad
Sorry for your loss.
I worked for RDO at a different store but we did a lot of things together. He was great guy!!!!

I have known Brian for most of his growing up years in Milnor. Our families were close friends. I also was Brian’s 6th grade teacher. He was a good student and well liked. I send sympathies to JoAnn and family.
I worked with Brian at RDO Equip. in Kindred for many years and they were great years.
I will miss going to the lutefisk dinner with Brian every fall at the Richland Lutheran Church.
Lots of great memories at work and solving world problems on the side.
Sympathy and love to you, JoAnn, and your lovely family.
Joann, so sorry for loss. Many memories of Glen and Brian at John Deere. Asking Brian a question and him answering,”I have to check with my Dolly”. Prayers
Devastating news has brought back so many great memories with Brian. He took me under his wing while working beside him at Nelson Implement in Milnor as a teenager and taught me a lot (mostly good stuff). We stayed in touch over the years and tried to get together whenever possible in AZ or ND.
My deepest sympathies to Clarice, Joel, Teresa, JoAnn and families.
Deepest sympathies to your family. I worked with Brian and there was usually never a dull moment sharing an office wall with him. He took a genuine interest in others and liked to make them smile. A couple weeks ago, we crossed paths in Fargo and had a great visit! I would bet he is cracking a joke or polishing a vehicle in Heaven.
I am sorry for your loss, Joann & family
Our deepest condolences to the family of Brian. We will be giving a memorial to Milnor Lutheran in Brian’s memory.
I am so very sad to hear of Brian’s passing. He was always one to keep us on our toes in the Clinic. He never minced words and was always smiling and laughing.By far one of my favorite people to see. This is truley heartbreaking for all who knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. He proudly boasted about you all!
