Carla Benson Ault was born on September 29, 1954, in Richardton, North Dakota, to Robert and Betty (Benson) Ault. She grew up in Jamestown, North Dakota, and graduated from Jamestown High School. Carla received a BA degree in Economics from the University of North Dakota. Following her graduation she was employed by the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis. Carla then continued her education at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln where she earned a M.A. degree in Agronomy. She taught Botany and Math at Mayville State University until she became ill. Carla married Jim Lambert on June 23, 1984, in Jamestown, North Dakota. She is survived by Jim and their three daughters, Anine of Fargo; Lillie and Mary at home in Hillsboro; her parents, Bob and Betty Ault of Jamestown; and her brother, Charles of Bismarck, North Dakota. Carla died on Friday, November 28, 2003, at her home in Hillsboro, at the age of 49.
