Carol Ann (Bruha) Kachel, 97, of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away peacefully, Saturday, February 8, at her apartment within Eventide Senior Living, Fargo ND.

Carol was born August 7, 1927, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to Joseph and Matilda (Miller) Bruha. She graduated from Aquinas High School, LaCrosse, WI in 1945 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1949 with a BS degree in Fine Arts and a scholastic teaching certificate. On August 26, 1950 she married George James Kachel in LaCrosse WI. Carol and George moved to California in 1956 due to her husband’s recruitment at the Lockheed Corporation Burbank CA, to work as an electrical engineer. While in California, Carol raised her 3 children and started her teaching career. She was a much beloved teacher at St Francis Xavier, Burbank CA and taught 1st, 3rd and 6th grades. She continued teaching 6th grade at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Sun Valley CA. Her last position was at St Robert Bellarmine, Burbank CA teaching 8th grade. Carol enjoyed water color painting and traveling to museums across the country. She was a patron of the performing arts, especially musicals. But most of all, she loved her family and swimming in her pool.

Carol is survived by her sister Joan (Bruha) Kozlowski Elkins Park, PA. Daughters, Paula (Kachel) Bandy Fargo ND, Pamela (Kachel) Whitney Houston TX. and daughter-in-law Christina (Peña) Kachel Memphis TN. 6 grandchildren Monica (Bandy) Young, Mark Bandy Jr, James Kachel, Joseph Kachel, Lauren (Whitney) LeBlanc and Colleen (Whitney) Carnagey, 5 great grand children and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband George James Kachel and her son Peter Robert Kachel.
