Carol Faye Hajek, 71, of West Fargo, ND went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Palliative Care in Fargo, ND surrounded by her family. Carol was born to Walter and Clara (Nelson) Briscoe on December 10, 1936 in Fargo, ND. She was educated in Fargo and married Raymond Joseph Hajek at American Lutheran Church in Fargo on October 30, 1954. The couple farmed in the Davenport/Horace area until 1996. They moved to Sheyenne Crossings, West Fargo, ND in 2007. Carol was active in the church over the years serving as a Sunday School music teacher, singing with the Sr. Choir, and held office positions on a variety of boards and committees. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed bowling, softball, horseshoes and she held down the camp when the family went on trail rides. She was a hockey mom and traveled every weekend to Corey?s tournaments. She and Raymond spent many years dancing with the Country Wheelers square dance club and Carol taught square dancing in the West Fargo School system. She was a founding member of Ole?s Octet singing group. One week out of every summer, she and her girlfriends enjoyed a week at the lake and Carol always caught the biggest fish. Every winter these same dear friends would have a birthday sleepover. Carol collected bears and loved to make jewelry. She is survived by her husband, Raymond; children: Roxanne Westman (Don) Mapleton, ND, Randy Hajek (Lisa) Davenport, ND, Corey Hajek (Stacy) Mapleton, ND; eight grandchildren: Donald Westman (Tara) Davenport, ND, Kristen Westman, Mapleton, ND, Jessica Hajek (Adam) Davenport, ND, Joshua Hajek, Davenport, ND, Taylor Hajek, Carter Hajek, Anika Hajek, Britton Hajek, all of Mapleton, ND; four great grandchildren: Gabriel Hajek, Donald Joseph and Alexander Westman, Isabelle Westman; sisters: Donna Helland, Kalispell, MT, Mary Hajek, West Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Roger Nelson, Gene Nelson; and a sister: Glennis Summers. Visitation: Tuesday, December 9, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Horace Lutheran Church, Horace, ND with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm. The family asks you to join them in celebrating Carol?s life at the Funeral on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 11:00 am at Horace Lutheran Church. Burial: St. John?s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Horace, ND. Arrangements entrusted to Fredrikson Funeral Chapel, Kindred, ND.
