Carol Bannerman, 84, Fargo, ND, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Edgewood Vista, Fargo.

Carol June McConnell was born on September 29, 1939 in Fargo, North Dakota to Charles and Hazel (Greterman) McConnell of Fargo, North Dakota.

Carol attended St. Mary’s Grade School, Shanley High, and Interstate Business College of Fargo.

On May 6, 1961, she married Eugene Bannerman in Fargo, North Dakota. They met at a Whoopy John Dance at the Crystal Ball Room in Fargo.

Carol was active with the Boy Scouts, being Den Mother, Girl Scouts, and 4-H leader. She worked at Hurley’s Religious Store, Security at Hector International Airport, Fargo, and with the West Fargo Hot Lunch Program at Westside School. She retired in 1998. She also worked at American Linen handing out clean linens to college students at Concordia College and MSUM. Carol and Gene were also ushers at Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks games.

In 2001, Carol spent her winter months down in Alamo, Texas with her husband Gene. They enjoyed it so much that they moved there permanently in 2005, returning to Fargo in 2015.

She was active with the St. Mary’s Cathedral Guild, Blessed Sacrament, St. Judy’s Circle, Newman Center, Catholic Daughters of America, and Resurrection Church of Alamo, Texas.

Carol enjoyed golfing, shuffleboard, playing cards, ceramics, knitting, piano, and crafts.

Carol is survived by her husband, Eugene Bannerman, Fargo, ND; son Jerry Bannerman, Brooklyn Park, MN; daughters Julie (Russell) Roberts, West Fargo, ND, Janeal (Craig) Grosinger, Bellevue, WA, and Jeryl Lynn (Wesley) Stein, Pierre, SD; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and sisters Colleen Palmby, Burnsville, MN, Connie Erlandsen, Fargo, ND, and Clarice McConnell, Fargo, ND.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Charles McConnell and daughter-in-law, Roxy Bannerman.
