Carol L. Thumma
April 12, 1959 ~ November 1, 2026
Carol Lucille (Rugroden) Thumma was born on April 12, 1959, in Park Rapids, Minnesota. She was a devoted mother, a compassionate caregiver, a talented creator, and a woman whose heart had room for everyone.
Carol had an outstanding work ethic and spent her life making sure the people she loved were taken care of, especially her children. Her love was shown not just through words, but through the countless ways she worked, provided, helped, and gave of herself. She had a heart of gold and an especially soft spot for her feline friends, who brought her their own special kind of joy.
Carol was wickedly talented and never one to shy away from a project. Whether it was helping create beautiful weddings, crocheting, making floral crafts, or baking cakes, she had a gift for turning ideas into something special. There seemed to be no project too big or too small for Carol to tackle, and she approached each one with creativity, determination, and care.
It was only fitting that Carol spent her professional life as a nurse. Caring for others was simply part of who she was. She dedicated herself to looking after people, offering comfort and compassion whenever it was needed. Even in her final days, when she was the one who needed care, Carol’s thoughts remained with everyone else. She consistently asked if we were all okay, a beautiful reflection of the selfless and loving person she was until the very end.
It is difficult to put into words just how wonderful Carol was or how deeply she will be missed. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled. Her children, family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched will carry her love, her creativity, her strength, and her generous spirit with them always. Though she may no longer be here to take care of everyone, the love and memories she leaves behind will continue to do so.
Carol was preceded in death by her father, Robert Rugroden; her mother, Marjorie Rugroden; and her grandson, Gabriel Crist.
She is survived by her four children: Amanda Lane, Jeffrey (Nicole) Crist, Jessica Koller, and Joshua Visser, 11 grandchildren, siblings James (Kathy) Rugroden, Nancy (John) Scott, Linda (Larry) Conner, David (Susan) Rugroden, Jayne (Tom) Aldrich, along with extended family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known and loved her.
Carol’s greatest legacy is the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the countless ways she made sure everyone else was okay. She will be loved and missed more than words could ever express.
We will be holding a celebration of life from 11am-2pm on Saturday, November 14 at the Christine Community Center
