Carol Katherine Sweeney, age 84, of Fargo, North Dakota died on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo. Carol Shea was born on March 1, 1934 at Sheldon, North Dakota to Matthew and Hattie (Peterson) Shea. Upon graduation from Sheldon high school, she attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, North Dakota. She was employed by the O’Day Equipment Co of Fargo, Supervised Study and the Soils Dept. at NDSU, Fargo until 1992. She married Michael D. Sweeney on August 30, 1958 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo. Michael died January 21, 2008. She was an active volunteer in the Fargo public school system, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Rosewood Nursing Home Auxiliary, and Fargo Elkettes. She is survived by her son, Michael Ira, Fargo and her daughter Mary Catherine Sweeney, Stillwater, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Holy Spirit Catholic Church and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Prayer Service: 7:00 P.M. Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Boulger Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with visitation starting at 5:00 P.M. Memorial Mass: 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 20, 2018 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Fargo with visitation starting at 10:00 A.M. Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery North, Fargo.

  7. I’m sorry to hear of Carol’s passing. As a friend and colleague of Mikes, I got to know Carol, and have corresponded with her at Christmas and Easter over the last several years. She was a kind and gentle person, and I enjoyed our communications. I will have masses said for her. May God grant her rest and hold her close. My condolences to her son and daughter.
