Prayer Serice:

Carole Ann Lynnes, beloved wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister and friend passed away peacefully at her home on Pelican Lake, MN, on Sunday, July 24th, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Carole was born January 19th, 1942 in Fargo, ND, to Earl and Lucille Hamry. She grew up in Kindred, ND, where she attended elementary and high school. These were the years where her deep love and passion for music first took root. In 1959, Carole met Carman Lynnes, which was the beginning of a journey of faith, love and family that they would take together. Carole attended Concordia College in 1960, during which she was a member of the Concert Band. She then attended Bethesda School of Nursing in St. Paul, MN, where she received her certificate of nursing as an LPN. On December 1st, 1962, Carole and Carman were married. They resided in Washington, IL, until 1968 when they returned to the Lynnes family farm in rural Leonard, ND, where they raised their four children, and she was active in helping run the farming operation as well as attending to her beautiful flowers and gardens. Carole was a dedicated wife, mother, active in her church and community all of her life. She directed numerous church and community choirs, played piano and organ, was an accomplished accompanist for high school and church events as well as directing musicals for area youth programs. As if this weren’t enough, Carole pursued her dream of furthering her education by attending NDSU to attain her bachelor’s degree in Business, graduating in 1984. Her family couldn’t have been prouder of the way she balanced her education while continuing to be an amazing wife and mother.

In their retirement, Carole and Carman resided at their homes on Pelican Lake, MN, and in Scottsdale, AZ, where she kept busy volunteering with Meals On Wheels, using her musical gifts as an accompanist at area nursing homes, singing in the church choir as well as at recovery ministries. Carole loved holidays – especially the annual 4th of July and Christmas gatherings with her family. No matter where they were, Carole could be found hosting any number of family and precious friends, effortlessly creating spaces filled with joy, laughter and amazing food. She and Carman loved to travel, organizing family trips, including two big trips to Disney, her beloved Branson, Banff, Hawaii and more, seeing as much of the world as possible, often including visits to the homes of various grandchildren so they could see their recitals, games and performances.

Carole is survived by her husband, Carman Lynnes, Detroit Lakes, MN; brother, Don (Vicki) Hamry, Kindred, ND; children DeEtta (Iver) Iverson, Kenosha, WI; Scott (Leisa) Lynnes, Sterling Heights, MI; Todd (Chantal) Lynnes, Victoria, MN; and Michael (Melissa) Lynnes, Leonard, ND; grandchildren, Alexis (Ben) Harkins, Dana (Peter) Christenson, Ivar Iverson, Brett Lynnes, Jessica (Scott) Vogel, Jennifer Lynnes, Kristina and Brian Lynnes, Zach (Callie) Lynnes, Becca (Peter) Wunderlich, Libby and Addie Lynnes; great-grandchildren William and Olivia Harkins and Finn and Hendrik Christenson as well as nephews, cousins, relatives and friends, all of whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials can be sent to Hospice of the Red River Valley, Cormorant Lutheran Church, Helendale Cemetery Association or Christ the Lord Lutheran Church (Carefree, AZ).

The family extends deep gratitude to the staff of Hospice of the Red River Valley for the exceptional care they provided Carole.
