Funeral Mass:

Prayer Service:

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mom, Caroline Mae Mastel on February 27, 2025. She was 75, born on November 3, 1949 in Linton, ND to Frank and Eugenia (Fischer) Kiefer. She graduated from Emmons Central High School in Strasburg, ND. Carol met the love her life, Leo Mastel, through her brother while playing guitar with Leo. They married September 2, 1968. Together they farmed in Hague, ND for over 30 years. Creating a life filled with love and hard work. They moved to West Fargo, ND in 2002. Carol found a lot of joy in spending time with her grandchildren. She found pleasure in playing games, dancing with them, watching movies, and treating them with lunches and ice cream. Her pride in them and her own children showed in everything she did.

She loved to cook and ensured that everyone who visited was well-fed with delicious meals and baked goods. Many remember her homemade chicken noodle soup with creamed chicken. Most of her cooking reflected her German/Russian heritage. Her love of cleanliness extended to her home, where she enjoyed shopping for décor and creating a warm inviting atmosphere. Not only inside the home but she was meticulous outside. She loved taking care of her garden, yard, and flowers. Carol enjoyed music and dancing. Country music, polkas, and lets not forget her love of Irish singer, Daniel O’Donnel. She would watch him every week along with Molly B. Polka show. Sometimes you would see one of us watching with her. She delighted in a simple life. She was a wonderful farm wife but also worked numerous jobs during her life. Included were housekeeper nurse’s aid at a care center, frame factory, bakery, and cook.

Mom loved to make others feel safe and loved. She often hummed while working around the house. You knew she was happy because being surrounded by her family filled her with warmth and comfort. Carol will be deeply missed by all. Her legacy of love, care, and devotion will live on in hearts of her family and friends.

Carol is survived by her children, daughters: Renee (Brad) Meyer, Rhonda Kramer, sons: Ron (Lisa), Rod (Mary), Rob (Cherie), and Randy (Sabrina); grandchildren, Tiara, Ryan, Constance, Autumn, Attison, Nick, Aydan, Jordyn, Morgan, Jamison, and Jaelyn; sister, Luvina Reis; and brothers, Aloys Kiefer and Robert Kiefer.

Carol is preceded in death by husband, Leo; son in law, Jesse; siblings, Charlie, and Daniel; and parents, Frank and Eugenia.
