Cecelia J. (Elton) Nelson, 86, Hillsboro passed away Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Hillsboro Medical Center, Hillsboro N.D surrounded by her loving family.

Cecelia was born in Hillsboro, ND on October 30, 1925, the youngest daughter of Ida (Peterson) and Christopher Elton. She was six weeks old when her father died. She was baptized the day her father was buried.

She grew up in Hillsboro and attended school there. She was confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1943. After graduating she took care of both her mother and brother Lynn, until their deaths. She was united in marriage to Alvin Nelson on November 28, 1949 in Ada, MN. They were married for 51 years.

Cecelia was a lifetime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Hillsboro, Sons of Norway, VFW Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors and a member of Hillsboro Senior Citizens. She and her husband Alvin were janitors at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and Norwest Bank. She babysat several children who she considered part of her family. She worked at Hillsboro Floral and she was famous for her “Nippy Doughnuts” sold at the Hillsboro Dairy Bar. Despite her many medical challenges, her faith, love and support from her family friends never stopped her from living a full and productive life.

Cecelia is survived by three daughters; Margaret “Peggy” (Ed) Ployhart, Harwood, ND; Mary (Randy) Morman, Glen Ullin, ND; and Patricia Nelson, Washburn, ND; 6 grandchildren, Dr. Robert (Lynn) Ployhart, Columbia, SC, Angela (Keith) Ose, Harwood, ND; Sarah (Jason) Cherney, New Hope, MN, Jordan Morman and special friend, Kayla Schmidt, both of Bismarck, ND; Andrew and Michael Fee, Washburn, ND; 9 great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Connor and Jacob Ose, Harwood, ND; Matthew, Ryan, Jack and Ella Ployhart, Columbia, SC, Amelia Cherney, New Hope, MN; Anthony Schauer, Washburn, ND; one great-great granddaughter, Skylar Schauer, Washburn, ND; one niece, several nephews and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alvin, three sisters; Clara Bakken, Ella Stamnes and Margaret Foss, two brothers; Lynn Elton and Arnold Elton, one niece Karen Stamnes, one nephew Corky Bakken and son-in-law Randy Morman.

    We miss “Nippy” already at the housing complex-=she really liked coming out for coffee in the afternoon and visiting with the mailman “Jan”.

    Nippy was always one of my favorite “moms”! We had some great conversations and laughs. My parents enjoyed their friendship with Nippy and Big Daddy!
