Cecile Rustad

Cecile Devitt Rustad, 86, of Fargo, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at home in Fargo. Cecile Devitt was born on April 10, 1920 in Scoville Township, Ransom County, ND to Claude and Emma (Stack) Devitt. She graduated from Brainerd High School in 1937. She was also a graduate of Interstate Business College in Fargo. During World War II she was employed at the State Employment Service, Vancouver, Washington and Plumb Tool Company, Los Angeles, California. She returned to North Dakota in 1945. She married Arthur Rustad and raised five children. Arthur died in 1975. In 1954 Cecile was hired by Super Valu Stores, Inc. as secretary to the division manager. She was named Secretary of the Year by the National Secretary Association in 1973. She worked for American Crystal Sugar Company from 1973 until her retirement in 1986. Cecile was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Her past services to the parish and the school included President of the PTA, Principal of Religious Education, and a member of the Guild. She was an avid reader and collected stamps, rocks, and old books, but was mostly dedicated to her family. Most recently she kept occupied with her great grandchildren and working with her son at Rustad?s Upholstery in Moorhead. She is survived by her five children, Irvin (Lynann), Fargo, ND, Donna (Craig) Phillips, Moorhead, MN, Doris (Richard) Haraldson, Fargo, ND, Richard (LaVonne), Fargo, ND and Randall (Mary), Fargo, ND; and one foster son, Patrick (Betty) Anderson, Fargo, ND; 15 grandchildren; and 32 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; 8 brothers; and 3 sisters.
