Charles R. Anderson, 59, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Fargo. Charles R. Anderson was born December 13, 1947 in Kenora Ontario, Canada. When he was a child, the family moved to Barronette, Wisconsin where he grew up on a dairy farm. He graduated from Cumberland High School, Cumberland, Wisconsin. He was drafted and served in the U. S. Army from 1968-1970, during the Vietnam War. He was captured by the Vietnamese Army and escaped from their prison camp. After his discharge, he moved to Minneapolis, MN. He owned a carpet cleaning business and later Good Time Charlies Bar in Minneapolis. He married Motoko Shirakata in Minneapolis, MN in 1971. The couple had 3 children, and later divorced. He married Jeanette St. Claire in South Dakota in 1992. He worked as a blackjack dealer and lived in Dunseith, ND, Minot, ND, Wahpeton, ND, Rochert, MN, and Detroit Lakes, MN and recently moved to Moorhead, MN. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; sons, Ian Anderson, Eric Anderson, daughter, Michiko Anderson, all Minneapolis, MN; sons, John Poitra, Jamestown, ND, J. R. Poitra, Bismarck, ND; daughter, Gina Poitra, Moorhead, MN; 3 grandchildren; brother, Don (Deborah) Lindemann, New Richman, Wisconsin; two sisters, Kathi (David) Silverstin, Orlando, FL and Laurel Hemmer, Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
