Celebrating the Life of Charlotte Elaine Sailors
Charlotte Elaine Sailors, a beloved teacher, accomplished violinist, and devoted mother, passed away on December 22, 2023, at the age of 94. Born on December 25, 1928, in Omaha, NE, Charlotte was the daughter of Glendon “Jim” and Nita Pryor. She was raised with her younger sister, Patricia.
From a young age, Charlotte displayed a remarkable talent for music. She began playing the violin at just four years old and continued to nurture her passion for the instrument throughout her life. Charlotte’s dedication to her craft led her to pursue a major in Early Education and Violin at Peru State College, where she met the love of her life, Gene Sailors. They embarked on a remarkable journey together, sharing 64 beautiful years of marriage.
In addition to her pursuits in education, Charlotte actively participated in various symphony orchestras, showcasing her exceptional skills as a violinist. Her musical talent took her on prestigious tours with Kryl’s Women Symphony in Chicago and performances with orchestras in Wichita, Honolulu, and many other cities. Charlotte’s contribution to the music community was truly remarkable, and she continued playing the violin until the age of 80.
Charlotte’s love for her family, friends, any many pets including her cat, Jasmine was immeasurable. As a devoted mother, she joyfully engaged in the lives of her three children, Suzie, Scott, and Celia. She attended their school and social activities, providing unwavering support and guidance. Charlotte’s warm and hospitable nature made her a cherished friend to many. She loved entertaining, cooking, knitting, gardening, and spending time with loved ones. Her kind heart extended beyond her immediate circle, as she volunteered for breast cancer awareness with the American Cancer Society.
Charlotte leaves behind a profound legacy of love and kindness. She is survived by her daughters, Suzie and Celia (Bruce) Reisenauer; her grandson, Colton Reisenauer; her daughter-in-law, Tina Sailors; and her granddaughter, Shawna Sailors. Charlotte will be dearly missed by her family, numerous nieces, nephews, and a vast collection of friends.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; son, Scott; sister, Pat (Laurence) Cox.
To honor and celebrate Charlotte’s life, a memorial service take place at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 6, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church, Fargo where she was an active member. A visitation will take place one hour prior to services.
In memory of Charlotte’s love for music, memorial donations can be made to the Music Department of First Presbyterian Church. Contributions can also be made to the Homeward Animal Shelter or a charity of your choice, reflecting Charlotte’s passion for caring for others.

My mother, Kathy Arenz, was a lifelong friend of Charlotte’s and is heartbroken to know her friend is gone. They grew up together in Peru and had many wonderful shared memories. Our condolence on the loss of a lovely woman. and beloved friend.
