Chester R. Olson, 91 of Fargo, died Monday, May 7, 2007 at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo. Chester was born in 1915 in Devils Lake, ND where he attended high school. On December 6, 1937 he married Ann M. Meier in Sidney, MT. He worked for GNRY as a Locomotive Fireman and was promoted to Locomotive Engineer in 1948 working all directions out of Grand Forks. He moved to Devils Lake, ND in 1949 and transferred to Fargo in 1950. Chester worked many jobs out of Fargo and Breckenridge, MN including The Empire Builder until AmTrack took over. Chester also worked part-time as a special Cass County Deputy Sheriff for 25 years and for the senior commission. Chester joined the Catholic faith in 1976 as a member of Church of the Nativity and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Elks of Fargo for many years before transferring to Detroit Lakes Elks 2261. He was also director of the White Squadron at 260 and secretary of the Fargo Elks motor patrol for one term and was a member of the patrol for 17 years. Chester was also a member of the Locomotive Engineers No. 202 for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann ?Babe?; son, William E. Olson and 2 brothers. Chester is survived by his daughter, Sally (Robert) Olson of Moorhead; son, Jim (Jean) of Fargo; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Hannah (Ken) Todd of Santa Barbara, CA, Naomi Anderson of Osakis, MN and Vivian Wenzel of Moorhead. Memorial Service: Thursday, May 17 at 2:30 pm at Church of the Nativity, Fargo. Arrangements entrusted to Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
