Chester A. Sautter, 81, of Fargo, passed away, Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Sanford Palliative Care Unit. Chester was born and raised in Nebraska. He graduated from Nebraska – Wesleyan before attending University of Nebraska for his PhD. Chester was united in marriage to Shirley Gaston on August 15, 1959 in Morrill, KS. He was a Professor of Physics at Concordia College in Moorhead from 1965 to 1997. After his retirement, they spent 16 years in Arkansas before recently returning to Fargo. Chester is survived by his wife Shirley of Fargo; his son: Greg (Jennifer) Sautter; South Bend, IN; daughters: Lorraine (John) Teilborg, Prior Lake, MN; Britta (Greg) Cabanos; Portland, OR; Rachel Sautter, Burnsville, MN; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and one sister: Mary Lukow, Holstein, NE.   9. Chet was one of the senior faculty members who welcomed me to Concordia in 1978. I deeply appreciated his congeniality and support for a young faculty member. May the God of all comfort be with you through this time.

  10. Sautter family, I was a student of Prof Sautter’s in ’73/’74 as a freshman at Concordia. Someone asked me a physics question today that reminded me of him, and I looked him up only to find that he had passed. Condolences on your loss – he was a nice and caring professor, and a terrific teacher who I’m sure touched the lives of countless students over the years. He will be in my prayers this Sunday.
