Christian ?Chris? Duchschere, 86, Fargo, ND, died Saturday, October 20, 2007, peacefully at home from natural causes due to Alzheimers disease under the care of his family with the support of Hospice. He was surrounded by Dorothy, his children, grandchildren, and son-in-law. Chris was born on September 24, 1921 in Rugby, ND to Carl ?Charlie? and Frances (Volk) Duchscher. He continued his schooling at Assumption Abbey eventually receiving his Masters of Divinity Degree from Josephinum Seminary in Columbus, OH in 1949. He was assigned to St. Anthony?s Parish in Fargo, ND and taught at Shanley High School as well. He then served at Hope, ND until he moved to St. Boniface, Esmond, ND. He was there from 1962-1968. He moved to California and married Dorothy Pfau on April 22, 1968. They lived in California and Chris worked as a securities broker until 1970. He started working for American Securities and Life in Fargo, ND as an insurance salesman and retired in 1996. Chris moved to Riverview Place in 2002 and lived there until December 2006. He was an active volunteer at St. William?s in Argusville, ND with various responsibilities, including parish council member, choir, lector, and eucharistic minister. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Sons of Norway for many years. He loved golf, and hunting for birds and deer, and training his dogs for hunting. He was an avid family man, reader, and Bison fan. He is survived by his former wife and caregiver, Dorothy Duchschere; children, Michael Dyrness, Minneapolis, MN, Michael (Leah) Duchschere, Lolo, MT, Michelle (Steve) Losing, Oxbow, ND, Mark Duchschere, Fargo, ND; former daughter-in-law: Colleen Buhler; Victor, MT; grandchildren: Justin Dyrness, Maddison, Colton and Caiden, Duchschere, Nathaniel, Naomi, and Noah Losing; siblings: Caroline VanRaden, Fargo, ND, Catherine Deeter, Pheonix, AZ, Vernice Knutson, CA, John Duchscher, Rugby, ND, Anna Mae Benzansen, Minot, ND. He is preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Nadia Losing, 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Visitation: 6-7 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, ND, and Thursday, October 25, 2007 in the church one hour before the funeral service.
