Clarence enjoyed numerous hobbies over the years including cooking, wine making, building birdhouses, woodworking, gardening and metal sculpting. He is especially remembered for the numerous metal brazed crosses he made for people for special occasions.

To the Lind Family
I was saddened to learn that Clarence has passed away. My condolences to all in your family. He was always kind and in good humor, and so very handy. Clarence & Anne were such good friends and neighbors to our parents. They visited back and forth across Eighth Street countless times. I missed visiting them when they moved to be in Reno.

Carlisle PAOur thoughts and prayers for all the family. We loved Clarence and remember and miss him.
On a side note, I remember Clarence and Anne got stuck in Grand Forks at our house during a blizzard in the 60’s. They were stuck in our house for at least 2 days but it could have been four. Two to four days with eight screaming Herbeck kids is not how you want to spend your time. I got the feeling they couldn’t get to Fargo fast enough after the roads were plowed and I bet they checked the weather reports prior to any future Grand Forks trips.
Arlington VATo Clarence’s sons, Ed and Kevin,
My deepest sympathies on the passing of your dad. He was in my thoughts this week, just as Anne was shortly after her passing. There have been connections between our families since my siblings and I used to wait for our parents at the Lind home after our days at the Red River Valley State Fair. God be with you.

Our parents died when our family was very young. Clarence and his beloved Anne were wonderful stand-in grandparents for our children. Boat rides before we had boats, long talks at night filled with humor and good will, lots of family love and cherished memories were their special gifts.
The Lind family always will be in our prayers as we enjoy the privilege of having Clarence’s crosses in our homes.

Clarence or as we called him “Unkie” was our Uncle-almost like a 2nd Dad to all of us Herbeck kids!! A man of few words but a heart of gold. Never one to complain. Proud of his woodwork and different “projects”. I remember the last few times I saw him, he would always give me a kiss goodbye and say “I love you”. He also asked me before “how was his favorite niece”!!!. Thanks for being part of our lives, you taught us more than words can say. We are glad you can be with Anne now!
Neenah WI”Unkie” was not only an uncle and a Godfather to me, he also was like a second father to the 8 Herbeck kids. We saw Clarence and Anne often, at West McDonald Lake in the summer and they would also come up to Grand Forks to share Thanksgiving or Easter Dinner with us. I remember Unkie as a man of few words, but someone who was always helping someone out, creating something or repairing / rebuilding something. I realized later that he was a talented and creative person, and I am fortunate to have one of his metal crosses, a small wood birdhouse, and a banana holder that he had made. I’m sure at times, my siblings and I must have drove him nuts when they were trying to relax at their cabin, since we lived right next door . . . but he never complained. He could be stern, and when he asked us to do something, we did it! We will miss him. He must be so happy now to be with Anne again. Peg
As I read the obituary for Mr. Lind, I was truly impressed by the outstanding and full life he lived. Never-the-less, 92 years of life is still much too short. How thankful we are that our grand Creator, Jehovah plans to restore his original purpose and make it possible for all mankind (including our loved ones we have lost in death) to live forever under perfect conditions. (Matthew 6:10 Job 14:14 & 15). Please accept our condolences as you deal with the loss of Mr. Lind and contemplate the hope of seeing him once again.
Our prayer are with all of you. Cherish the memories.
