Clement ?Murphy?Fox Felton, Minnesota Clement Fox, commonly known as ?Murphy?, age 85, of Felton, Minnesota, died on Friday, February 20, 2004, at his farm home near Felton, assisted by the care of Hospice. Clement was born on June 13, 1918, the son of Michael Leo and Sophia (Stasak) Fox, in Pembina County, North Dakota. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school District #17, known as the Fox School. After completing his education, he worked various jobs in North Dakota and in California until his induction into the United States Army with Company D, 164th Infantry Regiment, American Division. North Dakota?s 164th Infantry was the first American Army Unit to see offensive action during World War II when they landed on the Island of Guadalcanal on October 13, 1942, a turning point battle in the South Pacific Theater. Clement was a Sargent in charge of a machine gun platoon, also serving in Bounganville and the Philippine Islands. After his discharge in August of 1945, he returned to North Dakota. Clement was united in marriage to Jessie R. Porter in 1947, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. In 1952, they moved to Felton, where they lived and farmed for many years. Clement also drove school bus for nearly 20 years for the Glyndon/Felton School District, retiring in 1985. He continued to live on their farm and kept very active with many hobbies, including entertaining family and friends at his lake cabin on Cormorant Lake. Clement was a member of the Felton American Legion, and served many years on the township board of Flowing Township. Clement is survived by his children, Bonita (David) Lindseth of Rugby, North Dakota, Rita Fox and her partner, Katie Whiteford of New Hope, Minnesota, and Tim (Marleen) Fox of Hawley, Minnesota; grandchildren, Christopher Lindseth, Christina Hoang, Calina Lindseth, and Jesse Fox; step grandchildren, Misty, McKenzie and Mike Smith; great granddaughter, Raime Hoang; and his sister, Vivian Tang of Moorhead, Minnesota. Also surviving is his special friend, Karen Berg, and her family; his brother in law, Louie Bertrand; and sisters in law, Janet Fox and Ann Fox; and many nieces and nephews. Clement was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jessie; and his siblings, Cecil Fox, Marie Schulz Bertrand, and Kenneth Fox.
