Clifford A. Johnson Clifford A. Johnson, 87, died Saturday February 5, 2005, peacefully at SCCI Hospital, Fargo, North Dakota. Cliff was born September 2, 1917 to Oscar and Martina Johnson in rural Harwood, North Dakota, where he attended school. He worked on the family farm until he enlisted in the United States Army to serve in WWII. Cliff served his wartime in Europe, and he also received a purple heart. After the war Cliff married Sarah Krier on October 21, 1950, in Fargo, where they made their home. Cliff was employed by Northern States Power Company for over 30 years, and retired in 1983. During retirement, Cliff worked at the Moose Lodge as a part-time bartender for several years. Cliff was very active in several service organizations around the Fargo area. He was involved with the V.F.W., Moose Lodge, American Legion, past president of the Catholic War Veterans and United Patriotic Bodies of Fargo, and was also a charter member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Cliff also volunteered at the Veterans Administration for over 30 years. Cliff was on the go until his death. He enjoyed spending his summers at his lake cabin on Middle Cormorant Lake near Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. He also spent a lot of time playing cards at the Senior Citizen Center, socialized with friend?s downtown, and loved spending time with his family. Clifford is survived by one daughter, Vicki, Fargo, two sons, Randy (Sandra), Alta Loma, CA, Paul (Shirley), Fargo, four grandchildren, Emilee, Heather, Tracey, and Christopher, two step-grandchildren, Glen and Kyle, and two sisters, Irene Anderson, Fargo, and Audry Dura, Fargo. Cliff was preceded in death by his wife Sarah, and two sisters, Bertha Dopp, and Cecilia Krogh. Visitation: 5-7 P.M. on Wednesday, February 9 at Boulger Funeral Home prior to the Prayer Service at 7 P.M., which will also be held at Boulgers.
