Clifford E. Zimmerman of Bethany Retirement Living on University Drive in Fargo passed away on his 93rd birthday, Monday, November 8, 2010 at Bethany Retirement Living.
Clifford was born to Clarence E. and Daisy Zimmerman on November 8, 1917 in Wadena, MN. He grew up in the Perham-Wadena, MN area where he worked with his dad until April of 1941 when he enlisted in the United States Army out of Fort Snelling. He fought in WWII serving in Northern Africa and Italy. He was honorably discharged in May of 1945. He then moved to Duluth, MN, married Arlene E. Eisel in December of 1946 and worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad. They lived in Duluth until 1962 and then moved to St. Louis Park, MN where he worked for the St. Louis Park school system. Clifford and Arlene moved to Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo two years ago.
Clifford is survived by his wife, Arlene, his daughter, Deanna (Larry) Johnson, Moorhead, MN, his son Earl (Nancy) Zimmerman, Corcoran, MN; his brothers, Cecil (Sandy) Zimmerman, Duluth, MN and Lyle (Joyce) Zimmerman, Duluth, MN; 3 grandsons, Jeff (Karla) Johnson, Fargo, ND, Dan (Kristen) Zimmerman and Eric Zimmerman, Minneapolis, MN; and 1 great grandson, Ryan Zimmerman, Minneapolis, MN.
