Cody Cox, 30, of West Fargo passed away on September 4th, 2022 at Essentia Health in Fargo after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Cody was born on October 24th , 1991 in Ft. Lewis, WA, to Auddie and Laura Cox. As a young person, he was active in youth baseball and numerous volunteer activities. He was the youngest person allowed to join a Lions Club organization in Colorado, Mountain Division 6. Prior to leaving for Fargo, he had received the highest award the Lions Club can bestow for service to others, the Anne Sullivan Award.

Cody graduated from Colorado Springs Early Colleges in 2011.

Cody married Samantha Ohland on December 28th, 2016 in Fargo, North Dakota. The couple had two children, Lennox and a baby girl on the way.

Cody was best known for his giving spirit and love for his family. He thoroughly enjoyed comics, Legos, and video games. He spent many wonderful days at his family’s cabin on Pelican Lake. Fishing, playing yard games, tubing, and drinking by the fire were a few of his favorite lake activities.

Cody served in the National Guard from July 19th, 2011 until the day of his passing. He started his Federal Technician career as an Information Technology Specialist in 2016 and enjoyed helping other Soldiers daily. He obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant and mainly worked on Information Technology Systems. He proudly served his State, County, and fellow Soldiers for the past ten years.

Cody is survived by his wife, Samantha, West Fargo, ND; children, Lennox and baby girl; parents, Auddie and Laura (Kramer) Cox, Fargo, ND; siblings, Benjamin (Desiree), Nickolas (Kayla), Lance (Kenna); nephews and nieces, Colton, Norah, Everett, Nolan, Lydia, Wyatt, Riley; and grandmother, Bellviedene.

Cody is also survived by his in laws, Nathan and Lori Ohland; brother in law, Ethan Ohland; grandmothers, Margaret Scheetz, Marcella Ohland; numerous Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, and friends; members of the 426th Signal Company and North Dakota National Guard. He also left behind Dakota, his Labrador Retriever, and Anax, his Great Dane.

Cody is preceded in death by his Nana, Shirley Stewart, and nephew, Brydon Cox.

Memorial donations can be made in Cody’s name to the Veterans Warrior Foundation of Fargo, ND.
