Curtis A. Amlund, 77 of Fargo, died Saturday, October 30, 2005 in Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo. Curtis Arthur Amlund was born on November 29, 1927 in Fargo to Arthur and Corinora (Strand) Amlund. He served in the US Army from April 27, 1948 to April 26, 1952. He obtained his BA and PhD from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis in 1952 and 1959. Prior professional appointments in teaching and instructing were held at the University of Minnesota, University of Oregon, Eugene and the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. At NDSU Curt was an Assistant Professor in Political Science from 1961-1965, Professor of Political Science in 1971 and Professor Emeritus in Political Science from 1998 to present. Among numerous awards and honors received throughout his career, Curt?s most favorite was to be recognized with a crystal award plaque conferred by the Honorable Dwight C.H. Kautzmann, US Magistrate Judge and an official North Dakota state flag presented by Dale Sandstrom, Associate Justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court, which was flown over the Capitol on December 7, 2000. Also presiding at the ceremony was Mark Schneider, Attorney. All three were Curt?s former students. He was preceded in death by his parents. Curt is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Curtis Amlund Pi Sigma Alpha Scholarship or the Curtis Amlund Lectureship Series. Funeral service Thursday, November 3 at 2:00 pm in Gethsemane Episcopal Cathedral, Fargo. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo. A memorial service will also be held on Thursday, November 10 at 3:00 pm in the NDSU Alumni Center, Fargo.
