So sorry to see this. I will always remember when Curt (Norm) and Keith rebuilt the fence between our properties. It is still standing today although a bit drier. He would never turn down a cup of coffee and lefse and could talk off an arm and a leg. All sympathy to Barbara, Keith and Carmen and family. He will be missed.

What a guy! I think he could do anything. Met him and Barb at a toy show and have been friends ever since. You will be missed. I am sorry that I haven’t been in touch with you for awhile. Heaven gained another Highway Patrol Officer (retired) and a gentleman. Rest in Peace, you have earned it.
I was a rookie recruit to the Highway Patrol in 1978 when I first encountered Sgt. Ness. (He’ll always be Sgt. Ness to me). First, he did my background investigation prior to being hired and then he was one of my Field Training officers before I went on the road. In all my interactions with him, he was kind, respectful and totally supportive of me. I’ll never forget how he made me feel ready to start my first job in law enforcement. He was definitely one of a kind!
I got to now Curt doing toy shows close to 40 years ago. He was always ready for a conversation and a bit of bs. Always considered him a friend and over the years when we would spend time visiting I got to know more of Curt and the family. My sympathies to Barb and the rest of the family. RIP, well deserved to a good man who I am going to miss our conversations!
When I joined the NDHP in 1984 my first patrol car was Curt’s (Sgt. Ness) 1979 Chevrolet Caprice. 350 4-barrel with the single beacon on the roof. Lt. Erv Kobs and I were the last two that I know of to have had the single red/amber beacons. I always enjoyed in-service with him and Sgt. Gene Johnson. A couple of characters. I had that unit for 1-year and then transitioned to Kenny Bates 1982 Plymouth with the mighty 318. What a change! Seems like yesterday. Curt was a wonderful person. May his family and friends have God’s Peace!
So sorry to hear of Curts passing, he was a great guy and a great trooper.
I have great memories of working with Curt on the Highway Patrol. He was a good friend as well as a supervisor. He and Barb were always welcoming when I would stop by the house for coffee after he retired. I last saw him a few months ago and he could still talk for hours. He will be missed.
Just a quick note to the family! I knew Curt from being members of the Disabled American Veterans in Grand Forks and Fargo North Dakota. Curt was very proud of his service to our Country. I just wanted to THANK the family for his service to our Country by his military and Highway Patrol service.

Curt and Dave Hungness were our Sgts.On the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program that eleven of us were hired for in 1971. My wife Pat was the secretary in the Grand Forks District Office and worked with Curt for years. Too many of the old guard are gone and we miss the stories. Pat and I have many memories of Curt and treasure them.
Curt was always genuinely interested in and connected to those around him. I am glad that I could call him my friend. I will miss his stories. Peace to Barb, Mike, Keith and all of his family.
Curtis was a long time friend of mine. Dating back to Ivers Funeral Home. He was a great guy and will be missed!
