Daniel “Dan” Jacob Stremick, 81, Fargo, ND, passed away on February 6, 2024 at Sanford Hospice House in Fargo.

Born on August 11, 1942, in Langdon, ND, Daniel was the son of Philip J. and Emma (Urlaub) Stremick. The family lived on a farm in Walhalla, ND, where Dan was taught the values of hard work, dedication, and a strong commitment to his community.

Dan was united in marriage to Vera Schnitzler on May 10, 1969, in Langdon, ND. Together they moved to Walhalla, ND, where they raised their family. Throughout their 54 blessed years of marriage, Dan and Vera supported each other through life’s triumphs and challenges. Their marriage was an inspiring example of love and devotion to all who knew them.

Dan, a proud member of the North Dakota National Guard for six years, served his country with honor and integrity. His commitment to protecting and serving others extended beyond his military service as he dedicated his time and efforts to numerous community organizations.

An active member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years, Dan showed devotion to the values of the organization. His commitment was recognized and he proudly served as a Grand Knight in the Walhalla council. The Knights of Columbus benefited greatly from Dan’s leadership, compassion, and dedication.

Throughout his professional career, Dan held various supervisory roles in road and dam construction. His meticulous attention to detail and strong work ethic garnered him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. He approached every project with professionalism, precision, and commitment to excellence. Dan also enjoyed farming in the Walhalla area with Vera by his side.

Dan enjoyed all things country. He loved to hunt and delighted in watching deer, moose, and elk roam freely, finding joy in their graceful presence. Daniel had a deep love for the simple pleasures in life. Sitting back and immersing himself in classic western movies was one of his favorite pastimes. You could often find him captivated by the heroic tales of cowboys and the vast landscapes that unfolded before him. Country music was the soundtrack to his life, and the melodies would fill his heart with nostalgia and sentimentality.

Through it all, Daniel’s smile radiated warmth and illuminated every room he entered. Whether it was a friendly chat with a neighbor or a heartfelt conversation with a loved one, his smile became an indelible impression on all who knew him. It was a reflection of the genuine kindness and compassion that defined his character.

Dan is survived by his wife Vera Stremick, of Fargo, ND; his daughters Dana Erickson of Gwinner, ND, Kim (Bruce) Carmichael, Fulshear, TX, and Beth (David) Jeffrey, Garrison, ND; grandchildren Faith Erickson, Alyssa, Evan, and Connor Carmichael, and Kailee and Emalie Jeffrey; brother Ed (Marlene) Stremick; sister Anna Werven; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Philip N. Stremick and William Stremick; sisters Mildred Hornung, Mercedes Stedman, Amelda Hornung, Evelyn Arneson; and son-in-law Kendall Erickson.

The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to either Sanford Hospice House Fargo or a charity of the donor’s choosing. This will allow Dan’s memory to continue making a positive impact in the lives of others.
