Daniel Joseph Kenna, age 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on September 22, 2019, while under hospice care at Bethany on University in Fargo, ND. Dan was born on September 2, 1934 in Jamestown, ND to William and Netta Kenna. He attended St. John’s Academy in Jamestown. In November of 1953, he married Martha Schons and they celebrated almost 49 years of marriage at which time Martha passed. Dan served in the U.S. Army during Korea and then attended UND in Grand Forks, ND, and various banking schools. Throughout his career he worked in operations for a number of banks and credit unions in ND and MN. In May of 2004, Dan and Beverly Schons were united in marriage and this union brought with it a beautiful extended family. Dan enjoyed attending ALL of his grandchildren’s events, golfing, coffee with neighbors and friends, repairing bikes with the neighbors, volunteering at church and being a member of the Lions and Knights of Columbus. Dan is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughters, Deb (Matt) Ludwig of Sandstone, MN; Katie (Russ) Dorn of Andover, MN; grandchildren, Jake (Emily) Ludwig, Emily (Mike) Klocke, Andrew (Erica) Ludwig, Kirsten (David) Dorn, Kelsey (Jake) Unterreiner, and four great-grandchildren; his extended family, Julie (Chris) Kaspari of Sheldon, ND, Jennie (Mark) Rivard of Fargo, ND, Steve Schons of Fargo, ND, Jodi (Jeff) Peterson of Litchfield, MN; grandchildren, Luke (Nicole) Kaspari, Ben (Cassie) Kaspari, Ashley (Myles) Runyon, Sadie (Ryan) Nelson, Tyler (Rachel) Rivard, Lilly Rivard, Marissa (Josh) Reign, Nick Schons, and 9 great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary (Max) Zander of Mandan, ND; brother, John Kenna of Colorado Springs, CO; along with numerous other family members. Dan is preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Kenna; parents, Netta and William Kenna; brother, William Kenna; nephew, Tom Kenna; and many loved ones. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, with a visitation one hour prior, military honors will follow. Burial at Spring Park Cemetery, Sandstone, MN at a later date. Memorials preferred to the Daniel J. Kenna Scholarship Fund benefiting students attending St. John Academy, Jamestown, ND.   2. Dear Bev, I am so sad for you. I know these past months have been a struggle but now Dan is no longer suffering, he is in heaven with Richy! Do take care of yourself. Can’t believe Dan and Leroy died on the same day. Love you, Joan

  3. We’re so sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. The neighbor we knew was a kind, considerate gentleman. Reading about his life, it was our loss that we didn’t know him better. Please accept our condolences.

  4. Dan Kenna and I grew up together down the block in Jamestown. We both went to school at St John’s Academy, played ball together and kept in touch all our aging lives. He was a special, special friend.

  5. My heart goes out to you Auntie Bev and all my cousins, especially Deb and Katie. Oh that I could be with you this day and share all the precious memories I have of Uncle Dan.
