Darlene P. Borman, age 72, Lakeville, MN, passed away peacefully a little after noon on Ash Wednesday, February 25, 2004 in the grace of God and surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Her battle with colon cancer was brief but courageous. Darlene lived life to the fullest and always in style. Born on February 8th, 1932, she grew up on the North Dakota prairie, on a farm near Sanborn, daughter of Philip J. and Pauline Sauer. She attended high school at Saint Catherine's in Valley City, and went to college at St. Scholastica, Duluth, MN and finished at North Dakota State University in Fargo, with a degree in home economics. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She married Paul Nord Borman, of Abercrombie North Dakota on May 8, 1955. After briefly living in Brainerd, MN, Bismarck, ND, and Richfield, MN, Darlene and Paul made their home in Fargo where they raised four children: Mark Paul, Ann Elizabeth, Nicholas Nord, and Jane Marie. After Paul's death in 1989, she moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1993, where she lived for 10 years. Darlene leaves five beautiful grandsons: Matt and Peter Strom Borman, sons of Mark and Jan (Edina, MN); Paul Nord and John Hanley Borman, sons of Nick and Maureen (Omaha, NE), and Jacob Lee Rudrud, son of Ann Borman and Lee Rudrud (Apple Valley, MN). Darlene was a beloved sister to Donald (deceased), DuWayne & Phyllis (Sun City West, AZ), Dale & Millie (Sun City West, AZ), and David & Patricia (Scottsdale, AZ). She was a sister-in-law of Mary Jane Borman (Bismarck,ND) and David (deceased). She was a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews, a cherished and loyal friend, a woman of deep faith. She was also an amazing tennis player, a lover of travel, a wonderful host, a curious and engaging conversationalist, and an indefatigable helper in times of need.
