A. Darrel Bye, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Eventide staff and care by Hospice of RRV all of Fargo on May 21st, 2019. Born Albert Darrel, January 2nd, 1935 on the family farm in Churchs Ferry, ND to Albert and Mildred (Nestegard) Bye. Darrel had three siblings sisters Ardis, Ardell and brother Cord. They grew up on the farm until later making their home in Devils Lake, ND. Darrel attended Devils Lake Central Class of 1954 where he played basketball, football and played in the band. It was there he met and later married his high school sweetheart June Alm. Darrel and June were united in marriage at St. Olaf Lutheran Church on December 9th, 1956. They made their home in Devils Lake with their three children Scott, Barb and Bob. Darrel worked at Home of Economy in Devils Lake for 45 years. He was a sports enthusiast and avid golfer. A member of the Town & Country Club, Elks Lodge and several choral groups. He loved music and enjoyed singing Karaoke whenever he had the opportunity. After the passing of June, he moved to Fargo, ND to be near his children and grandchildren. Darrel was one of the first residents to move into the Senior Living Community of One Oak Place and was often referred to as the “Mayor” of the building. He enjoyed visits with his friends in the lounge every day as well as activities they provided. Most recently Darrel was living at Eventide Fargo and had made numerous friendships with residents and staff who cared for him over the last few years. PRECEDED IN DEATH by his wife, parents, grandparents, sister Ardell, brother-in-law’s Don Roed, Chester Tweten, mother-in-law and father-in-law Clara and Kindred Dammen. SURVIVIED BY his children Scott (JoNell) Bye, Barb (Scott) Shipley and Bob (Heidi) Bye, Grandchildren Megan (Steve) Dahl, Jared (Briana) Bye, Alex Henderson, Samantha (Jake) Eichelberger, Katelyn and Bryce Bye. Great Grandchildren Finnegan and Isla Dahl, Jackson, Lauren and Nolan Bye, and Eastyn and Emmett Eichelberger all of Fargo, ND. Sister Ardy Roed, Fargo, ND, brother Cord (Jean) Bye of Sun City, SC and many nieces and nephews, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
