Darrold Engel

darrold engel
Darrold Engel, 78 of West Fargo, died, November 29, 2021, at Sanford Health. My beloved husband, it deeply saddens me, but the time has come for me to say goodbye. First, I want to thank you for the 33 years 9 months we shared our lives. It was an honor to be your wife. We never took each for granted, having renewed our vows 5 times during our time together and never going to bed or leaving each other without an “I love you”. When Darrold would want a kiss, he would say to me “my lips are dry”. Your standard background includes being born August 12, 1943, in Eureka, SD. You and your younger brother Jim raised yourselves in the Venturia/Ashley, ND area. You graduated from Ashley High School in 1961. You joined the Navy during Vietnam from 1961 to 1964. You held a variety of jobs in your adult life. Stop-n-Go on 12 Avenue North was where we met. You exceeded all goals that were set by you and for you. I was always so proud of you. You faced all of life’s challenges without complaint and with a strong faith in God and love of family. We know how much you loved us, and we loved you as well. Left behind is me-your wife Alice; two children-Joseph Darrold Engel, Rhonda Engel Bauer (Scott), granddaughter Carly Bauer and grandson of the heart, Austin Hiltwein, also left behind is brother James Engel in Washington State. COVID stole your body from me but will never steal my memories and love. It is sad that Darrold did his part to protect others from this devas ting illness but unfortunately did not receive the same courtesy. Masks are mandatory. We ask those who are not vaccinated to please join us via livestream. This was Darrold’s wish. A Funeral Service with full Military Honors will be at 2 PM, Friday, December 10, 2021, at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo. To sign the online guestbook, go to www.boulgerfuneral home.com.
