David Allan Dewall

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Allan DeWall, who passed away on July 13, 2026, in Fargo, North Dakota, the city where he was born, raised, and called home throughout his life. He was 56 years old.

David was a family-driven, kind, and caring man whose infectious smile and joyful spirit could brighten any room. He had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, and those who knew him will remember him as one of the happiest people they had ever met.

Dave had a lifelong passion for anything with an engine, especially cars. He believed the louder the engine, the better. He loved attending races, talking about cars, and sharing his enthusiasm with family and friends. Whether he was at the racetrack, working on a vehicle, or simply spending time with the people he loved, Dave treasured every moment.

Above all else, David’s greatest love was his family. He cherished every gathering, every visit, and every opportunity to stay connected with those closest to him. His love, laughter, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to his family will forever remain in the memories of all who knew and loved him.

David is lovingly remembered by his sisters and brothers, Karen Friese, Alberta (Frank) Saunsoci, Michele Blackbird-Wojcik, Michael Blackbird, Donald Blackbird Jr. (Cathy), and Scott Weerts; his beloved girlfriend, Sandy Walks; his nieces, Tracy Friese-Smith and LeAnna Lambert; as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and countless friends who will continue to carry his memory forward.

David was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mary, and his former wife, Kathy DeWall.

Although our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in the love he shared and the memories he leaves behind. Dave’s laughter, compassion, and kind spirit will never be forgotten. His legacy will live on in the stories we tell, the roar of a powerful engine, and the love of family that meant so much to him.
