It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David “Dave” Thomas Peckskamp, who left us on November 22, 2024, at the age of 73. Dave was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Dave touched the lives of all who knew him with his warmth, generosity, and infectious spirit. Born on March 27, 1951 to Jerome and Carol Peckskamp, Dave grew up in Fargo ND where he developed a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors.
After graduating high school in Hopkins High in Minneapolis, MN, Dave pursued a degree at Moorhead State University, but took work in a different field–managing a greenhouse, dedicating over 40 years of his life to Shotwell Floral, where his hard work, expertise, and dedication were widely recognized. Dave received an honorary degree in Horticulture from the North Dakota chapter of FFA for his advocacy and contributions to horticulture in the region.
Dave’s love for nature went beyond his job. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who cherished every moment spent in the great outdoors. He also had a special talent for taxidermy, and he was admired for his skill and attention to detail, which captured the essence of the creatures he appreciated. Above all, Dave cherished his role as a father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was always ready to offer guidance, support, and unconditional love. Known for his genuine warmth, Dave had a unique ability to make people feel welcome and valued. Whether sharing a fish tale, offering a helping hand, or simply listening, his generosity, kindness, and loyalty touched countless lives.
Later in life, Dave found fulfillment in part-time work at Boulger Funeral Home, where he provided care and comfort to those in need, further extending his legacy of kindness and service. When he wasn’t working, you could find Dave at the lakes in Minnesota spending time with his brother, playing cribbage, fishing, and hunting the land.
Dave is survived by his mother Carol Peckskamp; his siblings, Daniel [Jane] Peckskamp, Kathy [Gerald] Munger; his children Tad [Holly] Peckskamp, Tara [Jim Erving] Peckskamp, Thomas [Sarah] Peckskamp; his grandchildren; his longtime partner Nancy Turner and her sons Lucas [Charli], Justin, and Josh [Yea] Turner; and a wide circle of friends who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on December 7, 2024 at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo. Dave’s legacy of love, laughter, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life will live on in the stories shared by all who loved him.

Dave was one of the real real good ones. He surely will be missed!
Wow how unreal. Just saw you at my father’s funeral and we reintroduced each other along with my daughter who also worked for you at shotwells down by the river. Northside of town. I will always remember you my friend. RIP.
Lawsen and I will miss you very much. We aren’t saying goodbye, we will see you later. Love you always and forever .

I am stunned. Dave is a legend and I will always remember his kindness and wit. I love to hear his stories and see his smile. He is a great man.
Words cannot describe how kind Dave was, he was my dad’s best friend, and was part of our family. Praying for all of the family, he will be greatly missed.
My sincere condolences to Dave’s family. It was always great to see Dave when he came to work for a funeral at Holy Spirit or St. Mary’s or just at Boulgers. What a kind and genuine person. I enjoyed hearing about different events with his family and just the friendly general conversations about life that we had. I know he will be dearly missed. Rest in peace Dave.
I am deeply saddened by this loss. I loved Dave’s humor. Dave i will miss you too.
Dave was the nicest guy you would ever want to meet. I’m thankful to be able to have known him. The world is a lil less bright without him in it. Sending hugs and love to all the family.

We lived on 2nd street in late 70s and early 80s. Terra and Tad were friends of our boys, Travis and Dan. I’ll never forget the bearskin bunting that Dave made to keep newborn Thomas warm. Your family were wonderful neighbors.
My heart hurts, I was truly saddened to learn of Dave’s passing. I have known him for so many years through his love, care and knowledge of plants. I learned so much from him. Then in the later years it always made my day when I would run into him as a greeter and employee of Boulger’s at a funeral, or just out and about when we would have more time to get caught up. He was a wonderful man and great friend. My deepest sympathies to all of you, Dave will be greatly missed.
Sympathies to all of Dave’s family, he was such a wonderful & kind person. We visited many times where he was employed w/ Boulger’s either @ a St. Anthony Parish funeral or @ Boulger’s Funeral Home. His presence will be deeply missed.

I met Dave when he moved to Fargo to attend Moorhead State in 1970. He was working at Shotwell Floral, and so was I. We had many similar interests and friends. We would go to the dike with our archery equipment and shoot arrows at targets at the dike. Eventually we hunted together and started doing taxidermy together. He became very good. We displayed our first works at Dave’s Sport Shop on Broadway.
Dave was the Best Man at my wedding. I lived in Dickinson, ND for over a year. My Grandfather taught us how to trap beaver, and Dave stayed with me so we hunted and trapped almost daily.
Dave was a wonderful friend. He would always be willing to help me with any project. I convinced him to work at Boulger Funeral Home. We got to work together almost every day. As we got older I spoke with Dave about us hunting and fishing with him and his brother Danny. I will miss him the rest of my life. You never know what you have until it’s gone.
Sure going to miss you, when I get in the boat at the lakes. I’m sure going to miss you after 60 years of friend ship. Things won’t be the same without you. You were an amazing godfather to my oldest son, Alan. I’m going to miss our talks over lunch and on the phone, and sharing memories and stories beside the campfire.
Rest in Peace my dear friend. Until we meet again.
