Dean Cook

Dean Cook, 67 of Fargo, ND passed away unexpectedly on March 16, 2023.

He was born in Carlsbad, NM on May 22, 1955 to William Jeffersen and Frances (Gleich) Cook.

The family moved to Dickinson, ND where Dean was raised and attended school.

Dean and his twin brother joined the army on September 27, 1972. After being honorably discharged he returned to Dickinson and worked at the oil refinery for several years. Dean later moved to Denver, CO where he ran his own painting and construction business. While in Denver Dean met Cindy Makris. They were united in marriage on March 26, 1994. July 9, 1995 they respectfully welcomed their daughter Jessica. The couple later divorced.

Dean returned to Dickinson and was employed at KMM. In 2014 he moved to Fargo, ND and began employment at NDSU on February 19, 2014, retiring in January of 2023.

Dean enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. If he couldn’t fix something it wasn’t broke. Dean’s heart was so full of love and generosity. He had a kind word for everyone he met and a wonderful sense of humor. Dean will be greatly missed. He leaves behind his daughter Jessica; brother Tim, Sisters Colleen (Mike) Rohr and Rhonda (Jeff) Winch and several nieces and nephews.

Dean was preceded in death by his father, William Jeff Cook; mother, Frances Riedl; step father, Edward Riedl; brothers, James Cook; Brian Cook and Dana Cook.

There will be a prayer service for Dean at St. John Lutheran Church in Dickinson, ND, Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 4:00 p.m.
