Deborah was born in Aberdeen, SD, and grew up in Ellendale, ND. The family spent many summers at their cabin on Spiritwood Lake. She attended Ellendale Teachers College where she met her future husband, Lynn Krueger; graduated from Valley City State College, and achieved her Masters Degree in Education Administration from Mankato State University. Debby and Lynn taught in Cleveland and Saint Michael before settling in Devils Lake, ND, to raise their children.

Debby moved to Fargo after her children graduated from high school, and worked a variety of jobs before finding her place in a Fargo law firm, where she worked until the firm dissolved.

After retiring, Deborah developed a passion for genealogy, uncovering interesting details in her family’s history as well as helping anyone who came to her with a long-forgotten mystery to solve.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

    • Deb had the most bubbly personality and could sum up any situation with a straight-forward, pithy remark. Her lovely soprano voice led the EHS choir. She didn’t suffer fools gladly and never wanted special treatment. I’ll always keep in memory her pretty voice and her infectious laugh. I wish we would have been in better touch as adults, but our wonderful childhoods were intertwined. There’s a picture of Deb, Mary Ellen, and me, about 7 years old, in our Easter best. (We were good Methodists!)

My sympathy goes out to her children and to Greg, Cress, and families.

      • Thank you for sharing your memories- it means a lot. I’m Amy, her daughter. She chose not to share many childhood memories, so these are precious.

  1. My name is David Johnson. I was an attorney at the law firm Deb worked at. I retired the end of 2012. My recollection is Deb did so around the same time. She had a great work ethic. I started with the firm in 1990. When I was there, I do not recall Deb missing a day of work. She would even get there on snow days when everything was closed down. Most importantly, she was the first person our clients met when they came through the door. The first thing out of my clients mouths when I sat down with them was what a kind and thoughtful person Deb was. I have fond memories of Deb and extend my condolences to her family.

  2. Our families have been next-neighbors at the lake for generations. I never knew Debby as well as I did her siblings, but I will never forget how she sent cards to my dad week after week when he was in the hospital. He and mom got the biggest kick out of getting those cards! It gave them an anchor to what was normal and good and lovely. Love to all of you
