Delmer Dewayne Dobler, 81, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 29, 2026, in Northwood, North Dakota, surrounded by his loving family.

Delmer was born on December 18, 1944, in Stockton, California, to Theodore Dobler and Emma Wolf Dobler. He graduated from Fargo High School land answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States military immediately after graduation.

During his distinguished military career, Delmer was stationed in Germany, completed two tours in Vietnam, attended Texas Technical College, and graduated from military flight school. He earned numerous honors, awards, and medals throughout his years of service. The recognition he treasured most was receiving the Silver Star for his extraordinary bravery and service.

While home on leave, Delmer met the love of his life, Patricia Schmit. The couple married on February 14, 1970, and built a life together centered on faith, family, and devotion. Raised in the Lutheran faith, Delmer later converted to the Catholic faith after their marriage.

Delmer had many interests that brought him joy. He loved attending car shows, participating in archery, and had a lifelong passion for music. He was a talented musician who played the piano, saxophone, guitar, and accordion. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness.

Those who knew Delmer often saw a quiet, reserved man whose presence could seem intimidating at first, but beneath that exterior was a deeply kind heart, a generous spirit, and a playful sense of humor that delighted those closest to him.

Delmer is survived by his beloved daughter Felicia Dobler Stangeland, and his cherished grandchildren Alissa Stangeland and Alexander Stangeland.

His legacy of courage, service, faith, love, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
