Denise K. Luttio

Denise Katherine Luttio, 39, of Gwinner, ND, died Sunday, April 14 at Lisbon Hospital.

Denise was born October 24,1984 in Lisbon, ND. She grew up and attended school in Milnor, ND, where she graduated in 2003. In school, Denise was active in basketball, volleyball, softball, track, one-act, and lifeguarding. She continued to play softball and volleyball for quite a few years after graduation. Denise worked for several years at US Bank in Fargo before moving to Kathryn where she worked as a consultant at Blue Cross/Blue Shield and later as a bartender. She then moved to Gwinner where she worked as a bartender at the Overtime Bar, and most recently as manager of CC’s Suds and Spirits in Gwinner. She also worked as an officiant at several weddings.

Denise loved tubing down the Ottertail River and just spending time with friends and family at her parents’ place. She was always very helpful when her nieces and nephews were there.

Denise had many fur babies over the years. She was an animal rescue advocate and her dogs and cats were rescues. As a bartender, Denise seemed to know everyone in the area. She kept in touch with many of her friends from school and went with them to concerts and other activities whenever she could. She always felt fortunate to have so many friends and family so close by.

She is survived by her parents, Scott and Sandy Luttio, Battle Lake, MN; her brother, Jeremy (Kristin); her husband, Mason Mahar; nephews and nieces, Camdyn Sem, Reese, Hallie, and Brooks Luttio, Fargo; grandmas, Eunice Morlock, Hillsboro, and AnnaMae Luttio, Moorhead; aunts and uncles, Halaine and Larry Grandalen, Luverne, Stan and Lori Morlock, Fargo, Peter Murch, Pelican Lake, MN, Tom and Terri Luttio, Lakeville, MN, Todd and Judy Luttio, Black River Falls, WI, and Dawn Luttio and Jamison Graalum, Grandin; cousins, Angie (Jason) Suckut, Ryan (Jennifer) Grandalen, Lindsay (Andy) Lowther, Kristin (Hunter) Murch-Gordon, Kelly (Ian) Glass, Ryan (Annie) Luttio, Rodger (Marina) Luttio, Jack (Liz) Dunneisen, Emily (Keifer) Ewing, Alisanne (Logan Haefner) Dunneisen, Jenna Luttio, Laura Luttio; and many extended family relatives.

  1. Words cannot express. Sending all of Denise’s family and close friends hugs and prayers. She was such a delight, always happy, and high spirited. Hold all her memories close, it’ll pull you all through. 🙏

  2. Would love to hand you a ball one more time. All of our chats on the mound will never be forgotten. Rest easy friend.

  3. Denise was an extraordinary individual—her presence alone could light up any room. Her radiant outlook, candid nature, and sharp wit enriched every interaction, making them both refreshing and memorable. Denise had a relentless passion for making the world a kinder place, often with a directness that was as sincere as it was impactful. She embraced everyone she met with open arms, making you feel like a lifelong friend from the very first moment.

I had the privilege of working alongside Denise on the District-24 Democratic committee, where we nurtured dreams of a future rich in public service, filled with hope, and driven by a determination to make a lasting impact.

Our time together in District-24, especially at the 2018 State Convention, our engagements with the ND Women’s Network, and at Ready-To-Run events, was filled with laughter and a profound sense of camaraderie.

I will forever cherish the memories of our shared endeavors and the dreams we nurtured together.

Words cannot capture the immense impact
    Denise had on me.

My sincerest condolences go out to Denise’s family and friends during this time.
