Diane Kay (Soderstrom) Christensen, 73, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025, at her home in Fargo, North Dakota surrounded by her family.
Diane was born on December 4, 1951, in Viborg, South Dakota, to Elmer and Elizabeth Soderstrom. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness.

She shared a loving marriage with her late husband, Dale Christensen. Diane found great joy in spending time with her family and cherished the moments they shared together. She enjoyed fishing at the lake, often accompanied by her beloved grandpuppies. She had a passion for books and enjoyed lively discussions over a glass of wine with her wonderful friends from her wine and book clubs. Throughout the years, she also had a deep affection for her many faithful cats who brought her great joy. Diane was extremely kind, caring, generous and had a great sense of humor. She was also a very talented crafter, spending time cross-stitching, sewing, crocheting, and doing needlepoint.

Diane is survived by her sons, Dan (Rachel) Christensen and Matt (Angie) Christensen; her brothers, Don (Barb) Soderstrom, Dennis (Celie) Soderstrom, and sister-in-law Ruth Soderstrom; her granddaughter, Emma Cullen, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Christensen; her parents, Elmer and Elizabeth Soderstrom; her brother, Dave Soderstrom; and her grandson, Owen Cullen.

Diane’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Per Diane’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral services. A gathering of family and her closest friends will be held at a later time.
Diane would love for memorial donations to go to animal shelters of your choosing, Veterans Honor Flight of ND/MN, or Hospice.

  1. Such a treasure of a friend..one so difficult to say goodbye to. It’s a good thing she loved cats, because while secretary at Longfellow Elementary, she was called upon to herd a building full of “cats” each with our own distinct independent personality. And what a beautiful job she did. Diane made us look good as professionals. Always fair and full of effective advice, she gained the respect of the entire faculty. Diane was an avid reader, and with her quick wit and big brain she was an incredible addition to our bookclub. It will be near impossible to fill her spot there. With Diane’s spirit so strong among us, we may not have to! I will miss you, Diane. Thank you for your friendship and for the honor of knowing such a quality human being. You were a gift. Until we meet again, 🩷🩷🩷
