Diane Solveig Thorsrud was born July 30, 1942, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Lewis and Ruth (Thoreson) Thorsrud. Diane grew up and attended school in Hillsboro, North Dakota, graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1960. Diane Thorsrud and Gillette Munter were united in marriage on May 12, 1962, in Sisseton, South Dakota. They lived in Aberdeen, South Dakota, where their son, Michael, was born in 1963. Diane and her family enjoyed a one-year adventure living in Sumner, Washington, in the 1970s before moving back to Hillsboro where Diane lived happily for the rest of her life. Diane was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where, pre-pandemic, she could be found in the back pew every Sunday waiting to tell Pastor Joe “Good sermon!” Diane was a homemaker and caretaker often helping others by babysitting. Diane was exceedingly kind without a harsh word for anyone. She was the family calendar keeper making sure all birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays were recognized with an envelope addressed on her typewriter and a handwritten card. Life in Diane’s family and community will never be as sweet without her. Diane is survived by her husband, Gillette; her son, Michael, and his wife, Jackie; her daughter, Rachel, and her husband, Curt; and her grandchildren Matthew, Amanda, Cassy, Samantha, and Jessica. She is survived by her brother, Ron, and his wife, Sue; her sister, Marilyn, and her husband, Bernell; and her brother, Joel. Diane is also survived by many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews on both sides, and her church family, neighbors, and friends. Diane was preceded in death by her parents, five older half siblings, and her infant son who she finally gets to hold in her arms for the first time and for eternity. Guestbook

  1. Condolences to Diane’s entire family on the loss of this very kind lady. I got to know Diane when we were in circle Bible study together. She was such a joy! May God bless our memories of her.

  2. Diane and I were classmates for our entire lives. I remember her with fondness as she always treated all of us with kindness. Diane never had an unkind word to say about anybody. She was open and friendly as all of her family was and as her neighbors we enjoyed them all. I would only see her at funerals when I returned to Hillsboro and she had never changed—always a kind word and smile.
