Diane M. (Rheault) Qualey, age 65, of Fargo, ND passed away on Monday, October 24, 2016, at Mayo Clinic St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. Diane Mary Rheault was born on September 20, 1951, in Moorhead, MN to Alpha and Grace “Lorraine” (Villiard) Rheault.   She grew up on a farm south of Fargo, attending elementary school and worship services at St. Benedict Church of Wild Rice.  She graduated from Fargo South High School in 1969; then attended classes at Interstate Business College. Diane was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” D. Qualey on November 14, 1970, at Horace Lutheran Church in Horace, ND.  They made their home in Casselton, ND, where Diane was a self-employed seamstress while also working in customer service at the Federated Store, then the Casselton Drug Store, and finally the JC Penny store in Fargo.  They moved to Fargo in 2002 where Diane worked for Sanford Health (MeritCare) before retiring in 2013. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fargo and Martin’s Lutheran Church in Casselton.  Diane and Jerry enjoyed traveling during their retirement; exploring both east and west coasts, as well as Hawaii.  She enjoyed dancing, flower gardening, growing and canning vegetables, and sewing and quilting.  Most of all, she loved visiting and spending time with family and friends. Diane is survived by her husband, Jerry; daughter, Suzette Qualey (Jeff Gall) of Austin, TX; son, Marck Qualey of Fargo; three brothers:  Bob (Nancy) Rheault of Rockingham, NC, Ron (Barb) Rheault of Fargo,  Terry (Kim) Rheault of Ione, CA; one sister Jan (Allen) Richter of Fargo; and many nieces and nephews. Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Alpha and Lorraine; her sister, Louise “Reese” Rheault; and numerous aunts and uncles. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016, at 11:00 am at Hope Lutheran Church South Campus with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery South in Fargo.

  11. Diane and her family were like my second family growing up. I will be forever thankful of the times I shared with the Qualey family. Diane took the time to visit with me and was so very supportive. She was a little lady with a big heart. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

  16. I went to grade school with Diane at St Joseph’s. I am so glad I went to the reunion 2 years ago and was able to visit with her. She was as optimistic and cheerful then as she had been as a little kid. I am so sorry for your loss.

    It just seemed like yesterday when our paths crossed and it was so nice visiting with the two of you.   21. Dear Jerry and kids … I just learned about Diane’s passing last night. I can’t explain how much my heart aches for you … for all of us. She was one of the sweetest ladies I ever met. Sympathy is many hearts sharing one sorrow … know you’re not alone in feeling this loss.

  22. Sorry to hear of the loss of Diane. I used to babysit her and her siblings, living just around the section from their rural home. Just really remember my parents praying for her when they found out she was born with a heart condition. Also, visiting with her when we reconnected at the JC Penny’s store where she worked.
