Diane Rae Nordling, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Fargo, ND on July 20, 2024 under the care of Sanford Hospice and with her husband Peter at her side.

Diane was born on December 7, 1947, in Warren, MN, to Eldon and Lila Gerdts. She graduated from West High School in Minneapolis before attending the Minnesota School of Business, and then embarking on a successful career as a Legal Secretary in East Grand Forks, Fargo, and Park Rapids. She was the owner of Sarah’s House in Park Rapids and spent 20 years employed with RDO Equipment in Fargo. Diane embraced the journey of life with grace and resilience. She was an active member of Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo, finding comfort and solace in her faith.

Diane was united in marriage to Peter Nordling on August 31, 1968, and together they raised two daughters: Meredith Cameron and Amy Dietrich. Their family eventually grew with the addition of four grandchildren – Riley and Jacob Johnson, and Ingrid and Ella Dietrich. Diane’s family brought her immense joy and pride throughout her life.

Diane is survived by her husband of 55 years, Peter Nordling; her daughters Meredith Cameron and Amy (Morgen) Dietrich; her grandchildren Riley, Jacob, Ingrid, and Ella; her brother Charles Gerdts; her sister-in-law Deanna Nordling; her nieces Shauna (Nick) Wimer and Livia (Steve) Zitzow; her nephews Chad Nordling and Adam Nordling; her long-time friend Connie (Mark) Hanson; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Diane was preceded in death by her brother Dale (Mary) Gerdts; her parents Eldon and Lila Gerdts; her mother and father-in-law Betty and Lloyd Nordling; and brothers-in-law John and Keith Nordling.

The Nordling family extends their heartfelt gratitude to their dear friends and neighbors, Bryan and Sandy Howard, for their unwavering support during this difficult time. Additionally, they express their appreciation to Sanford Hospice for their compassionate care and assistance.

  6. I have some great memories with Diane as kiddos and teens! I was very blessed to see and visit Diane a few weeks ago…and didn’t realize at the time what a gift I’d been given💕✝️. She sure loved her family and our prayers are for your comfort.
