Donavon Zakopyko

May 2, 1937 ~ August 13, 2014
Donavon D. Zakopyko, age 77, died August 9, 2014, at his home in Casselton, North Dakota.
He was born on May 2, 1937 in Butte, ND to William and Ethel Zakopyko. After graduating from high school in 1955 there, he attended college at Minot, and joined the army. After serving a term in Germany, he returned home and married Earlene Ward on May 23, 1959.

He was an avid bowler, a member of Martin Lutheran Church, the VFW, and the American Baptist Mens Group.
Don loved gardening, his cat, and especially mowing grass on his John Deere.
He was preceded in Heaven by his parents, wife, and son Curtis.

For Donavon’s family. Want to express our sympathys to you. I (Bev) worked at Great Plains Supply while your dad was District Mgr. & he would visit Harvey’s Lumber Yard often. Always enjoyed his upbeat energentic attitude. Always made our day fun. Treasure the special memories. May God bless you with comfort. Sincerely, Bev & Tim Held
I just heard about Don and my heart goes out to all his loved ones. Please find comfort and hope in God’s promise that one day all those asleep in death who are in his memory will live again, only in perfect health and under much better world conditions. (John 5:28, 29 Psalm 37:29)
Sincerely,
Martha Bailey

So sorry to hear about Dad’s passing. I have so many great memories about our get-togethers. And oh, all the pinochle we played – both in Towner and in Fessenden. Miss all the laughter we shared.

We were so sorry to hear that Don had passed away. A friend of ours here
gets the Fargo paper and saw the
death notice so we just found out
today – I have told several of Don and Earlene’s old friends here so they are aware of it. We had no idea he had
gotten in such bad shape. We hardly ever get to Fargo anymore so had not
talked to him for quite a long time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you but I have a feeling he is now at peace and with your mom and Curtis.
