Doreen Luke
Doreen Luke, 62, of Fargo died Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Essentia Health.
Doreen was born in Mayville, ND, the daughter of Tilman W. Beck and Joyce L. (Carlson) Beck. Doreen was raised in Mayville and graduated from May-Port High School in 1972. Upon graduation she moved to Fargo and worked at Mr. Don’s State College of Beauty. After that Doreen and her mother Joyce owned and operated a restaurant in Portland, ND called DJ’s. Doreen’s brother, Dennis Beck managed a restaurant in Rapid City, SD and wanted Doreen to come down and work for him, as he knew she was instrumental in all things related to running a successful business. While in Rapid City, she was a director of food service for the National College of Business. While in Rapid City she met a guy named Verne Luke, and thought he was a pretty good catch. With both sets of parents, a brother and sister-in-law, they were married in Reno, NV. Doreen and Verne moved back to Fargo, as her father wasn’t in the best of health. Her expertise in the food service business found her managing several stores throughout the Fargo area including: Wise Buy Foods, Holiday Plus, and Trollwood Family Restaurant. Finally she had a job that didn’t require food, NHD Manufactured Home Sales, where she managed two parks in Grand Forks and two in Fargo. Doreen and her husband owned and operated E/Z Manufactured Home Sales. Doreen loved to play bingo and trips to the ocean, where Verne’s family resides in Oregon. She was also a big animal lover, having cats and dogs all of her life.
She is survived by her husband Verne; her mother Joyce Beck; her brothers Dennis (Rowena) Beck and Dale (Linda) Beck; and a sister Charlene Beck of Forest River, ND; several aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father and both sets of grandparents. She will be missed but now she is in the Hands of Jesus.
Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 AM Monday April 17, 2017 with a memorial service at 11:00 AM at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo.
Doreen I got to spend the last 4 years calling you my Freind. And I cherished that with all my heart. I am going to miss you horribly. There is an ache in my heart that’s unbearable. Until we meet again for coffee and are long talks fly high my precious angle. I love you.
I continue to hold you all in prayer. Thank you for sharing your lives with me. I consider myself fortunate to have known Doreen. I know you will miss her terribly.

Vern and family. I am sorry to hear of your loss. Through all her battles Doreen kept up a good fight as we all know she loved people and life. No more pain, Eternal Life, she has the ultimate life now.
No more pain, Eternal Life, the ultimate. Doreen will be missed. Her determination, love of life and people will be remembered.
Doreen and I were friends, neighbors and more. She sold us our home but we were friends before that. She will be missed by all who knew her. No one had a zest for life like Doreen. We grew apart but I feel blessed to have known her. Prayers to her family and strength at this time of sorrow. Remember her with a smile, that’s how she greeted everyone.
Sadly I did not see enough of this sweet face of late, but her love of her cats and all animals made her stand out among humankind. Life gone way too quickly, but no more pain and suffering, my friend. I am sorry, Vern.

Vern, I was in Fargo this week-end for Easter and was so surprised and saddened to read that Doreen had passed away. We have kept in touch at Christmas and even though it has been some time since I worked with her at NHD Property Management, Inc. I will never forget the day we hired her and what a great job she did for us at Buena Vista and Meadow Park – she was so much fun to work with –
lots of great memories. I know she will be missed by everyone whose life she touched. My sincere sympathy to you and your family.
