Doris M. Conmy, 92 of Lake Park, MN died Friday, December 23, 2005 at Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park. Doris Marguerite Nelson was born on January 20, 1913 in Fargo to Hjalmer and Rhoba (Cullen) Nelson. She graduated from Fargo Central High School and N.D.A.C. with a BA in English and French. Doris married E.T. (Tom) Conmy, Jr. On July 22, 1933 in Walker, MN. They were high school sweethearts and were still holding hands in their 90s. Looking back, Doris teased that she Aspoiled him something terrible.@ Doris was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. While raising her family in south Fargo, with Tom away during WWII, she still found time to volunteer for the St. John=s Hospital Auxiliary. Doris and Tom spent summers on Lake Melissa with their children and grandchildren. Doris always loved having her family with her. Another favorite place for family visits was Naples, Florida, where Doris and Tom wintered for forty years. Doris was a vigorous and active lady. She loved traveling the world and she even snorkeled in the Caribbean in her 70s with Tom. On their 70th anniversary, Doris was asked what her secret to a long, happy marriage to Tom was, and she replied, AWhen we disagreed on something, I was careful not to let him know, and then I=d go ahead and do it in the first place.@ She is survived by her husband, Tom; sons, Tom (LizAnne) of Fargo, David (Vicki) of Fargo, Bruce (Lynette) of Turtle Lake, MN; a daughter Jane Reff of Fargo and 14 grandchildren. Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley or St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. A private family service and burial is planned.
