Dorothy DuBord, 98, of Fargo died Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Sanford Hospice House.
Dorothy was born on April 4, 1922 to Arthur and Antoinette (Sauvageau) Duval on a farm near Horace, ND. She grew up near Hickson, ND and attended school at St. Joseph’s Academy, St. Benedict’s Church, Wild Rice, ND. Ernest and Dorothy were married at St. Benedict’s Church, Wild Rice, ND On November 14, 1944. They farmed together until their retirement in 1986, at which time they moved to Fargo.
Ernest and Dorothy had a trailer on Spirit Lake near Vergas, MN for 24 years. Dorothy was a wonderful cook, and it was no problem finding people to help with harvest and haying because she was known for her delicious meals. When people came to visit, you had to have a little lunch before you left. Dorothy had a large garden with many vegetables and flowers. She so loved her sizable family and remembered all their names, even at the age of 98 and 1/2 years of age.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (Curt) Haakenson of Albuquerque,NM; Kathleen (Paul) Willison of Hillsboro,ND; Leo DuBord of Horace,ND; Joanne (Michael) Lenertz of Moorhead,MN; Michael (Kathy) DuBord of Fargo,ND; Curt (Kari) DuBord of Vergas, MN; son-in-law Tom Valentine of Wales, ND; 24 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernest, daughter Marie, grandson Eric, her sisters Yvette Richard and Claudia Cossette; brother Raymond; and daughter-in-law, Barbara DuBord.
A private service will be held. The service will be livestreamed on Boulger Funeral Home’s website at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 15, 2020.

Sorry for your loss. Dorothy was a sweet kind hearted lady. I will be thinking of you all. Lois Sommers (Sauvageau).
So sorry for your loss, such a lovely lady! My parents were Merle & Bev Kirkhorn, neighbors at Spirit Lake Resort! They had so many memories with your parents and Duval’s
My favorite Aunt Dorothy. So many memories of driving out to the farm to cool off on a hot summer night. And even spending a week during the summer. She was beautiful inside and out , had a good sense of humor and loved to play cards. Both of your parents were wonderful just good people Raised a good family active in church and community . I loved them both. Prayers to the whole family share stories and even have a laugh

DuBord family.
So sorry to hear of your loss. She was a sweet lady. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Your family is in players. I have been reflecting on your mother and her legacy. She was an honourable lady and was an obedient servant of Chist Jesus. No dought, she is now truly home. I love your mother.
Aunt Dorothy was so sweet, always a smile, warmth exuded from her, genuine interest in others, a hearty laugh and I, too, have such fond memories of trips to the farm and the great ‘lunches’ she prepared to take out to the field, or in the evening after all came in, etc….always great baked goodies to accompany all the food. Dorothy was a woman of deep faith and a great love for all her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Condolences to all the family

Many fond memories of spending time out at the farm, when we would come over from Montana. She was a beautiful soul and lady. So lucky you were able to have 98 1/2 years with her. Still hard to lose your mom. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Sending prayers and peace during this time. I know Grandma is free as a bird and smiling with Grandpa.
My memories of near weekly visits to the family farm where are two families shared “city” life with “farm” life and learned the love that casts all our future lives path. The twinkle of Dorothy’s eyes when she smiled is the most vivid of memories for me. Her motherly warmth extending to little home sick boy who spent a week on the farm.
Countless picnics in parks, by lake sides or on the farm. Condolences to all whos lives were blessed to know Dorothy.
Joanne and family, your moms service was beautiful. Cherish great memories always. Joanne will talk to you next week. Love 💘

Sorry to hear about Aunt Dorothy’s passing. Thoughts and prayers to the family.
My condolences to the Dubord family. I was so sorry to hear of Dorothy’s passing. There was no one finer than Dorothy that is for sure. Soft spoken, hard working and kind are three characteristics that stood out for me. I drove truck for her and Ernie a couple of summers and she fed us all very well. It was sitting at Dorothy’s kitchen table, probably at the age of 14, that I experienced my very first beer after a long, hot harvest day. After taking my first drink I set the can down on the table only to look up to see everyone looking at me to see what I thought of my first sip of beer. When I looked back down at the table, my cold sweaty beer started to dance across the table due to condensation and I thought I was losing my mind. I remember both Dorothy and Ernie laughing so hard because I couldn’t believe my eyes. Lots of fond memories with Curt and helping out with harvest. Rest in peace Dorothy. Rest in peace.
Deepest sympathies to the Dubord family…Bob and Crystal Asche
Dubord family,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Your Mom was always so kind. I know she will be missed, but I bet there’s some giggling going on up there now that those 3 sisters are together again.
My condolences to the family. I admired her family values and her stamina and have many childhood memories on their farm. RIP dear cousin.
