Douglas F. Rasmusson, 72, Fargo passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Essentia Health, Fargo.

Douglas was born April 29, 1951 in Devils Lake, North Dakota to William and Ethel (Basford) Rasmusson. He graduated from Warwick High School on May 22, 1969 before being drafted into the US Army. He served overseas before returning home to the family farm. He also served in the North Dakota National Guard. He attended both Valley City State University and NDSCS, graduating with an associates degree in electrical engineering and small engine repair.

He married Ethel Berneking on May 24, 1980 at Breckenridge Lutheran Church, Breckenridge, MN.

They made their home in Wahpeton before he re-enlisted in the US Army in 1987 which brought them to Bremerhaven, Germany. They were stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO for a year before moving permanently to Fargo where he resided until his passing.

Their oldest daughter Tara was born in Breckenridge, MN followed by their youngest daughter Amber.

In his early years, he enjoyed wood working, riding his Harley Davidson and John Deere. He absolutely loved to build with LEGOS, and enjoyed watching anything Hallmark and gameshows with his family. He was young at heart and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his spouse of 43 years, Ethel, Fargo, ND; children, Tara Rasmusson, Fargo, ND; Amber (Jessica) Hoffert, Fargo, ND; 6 grandchildren, Danielle McCoy, Taylor Rasmusson, Lorelai Hoffert, Sawyer Rasmusson, Callie Hoffert and Nathan Hoffert; 3 siblings, Shirley (Paul) Berg, Fargo, ND, William (Sharon) Rasmusson, Arlington Heights, IL, Stella Papachek, Devils Lake, ND and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Keith Papachek.
