Douglas “Doug” Wesley Nordland, 48, died Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at home surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. Doug was born the son of Robert and Barbara (Goers) Nordland on October 16, 1971, in Washington, D.C. He spent his early childhood in Maryland and then moved with his family to Fargo, ND where he spent a majority of his life. He was united in marriage to Roberta Maley on September 24, 1993 at First Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. They made their home in Fargo until 2001 when they moved to Kansas City, MO for ten years but moved back to the Fargo-Moorhead area in 2011. Doug had a passion for motors and made his career at being a mechanic. He worked for various shops over the years but retired from Jim Hawk Trailer in 2009 due to him being disabled. Doug had many interests but his heart was truly in the sport of fishing. He loved to fish and it didn’t matter the weather and taught that love to fish to his boys. He also had a passion for drag racing, restoring his hot rods he and his dad started years ago, and playing pool with his friends. Doug was always quick with a smile or a joke and always had a story to tell. He was as charismatic as they come and he never knew a stranger. Doug is survived by his wife, Roberta Nordland, Moorhead,MN; his children, Aimee Nordland, West Fargo, ND; Justin Nordland, Moorhead,MN; and Christian Nordland, Moorhead, MN. He is also survived by his brothers, Eric (Seth) Nordland, Fargo, ND; Russ (Jill) Nordland, Bismarck, ND; a sister, Kim Nordland, West Fargo, ND and brother-in law, Jason (Robyn) Maley, Moorhead, MN; nephews, McKenzie (Sara) Nordland, Valley City, ND; Mason Nordland, West Fargo, ND; Zade Maley, Moorhead, MN and nieces, Grace Hanneman, Fargo, ND; Carlee Nordland, Bismarck, ND; Zoey Maley, Moorhead, MN and his mother-in-law, Marie Maley, Moorhead, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Barbara Nordland A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2020. Visitation starts at 4pm with the service beginning at 5pm. Services will be held at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo, ND. The service will also be livestreamed and a recording posted onto the obituary page following the service, which can be viewed at any time.
