Doug was born December 31, 1940, to Ruby and Theodore Vee in Nome, ND.

He was raised on a farm in Preston County near Fort Ransom, ND, and graduated from high school in 1958.

Doug went on to serve in the Army for 4 years during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After returning from service, he married the love of his life, Diane Moench, in 1967. They lived in Fargo for a short time before moving to Billings, MT. He worked for Northern Pipe as a bookkeeper until he retired.

Doug and Diane loved traveling and spending time with family. He was also an avid bowler, meeting new friends along the way.

Diane unfortunately passed away March 5, 2020. Doug remained in Billings until December 2024. He then moved back to Touchmark in Fargo to be closer to family. While there, he enjoyed the “Blue Bird” bar where he met many new friends. He enjoyed word puzzles and outings to Fort Ransom, Lake Lida, and family holidays.

Doug was a very humble man, upbeat about everything, and never complained. Anyone that met Doug loved his kind heart and great sense of humor.

Doug was proceeded in death by his wife Diane, parents, Ruby and Theodore Vee, sister Dolores Quick, and her husband Ray Jorgenson.

He is survived by a niece, Linda Jorgenson, nephews, Dennis (Lauri) Jorgenson, Dale (Tina) Jorgenson, and Adam Johnson, and sister-in-law Peggy Johnson, along with many great nieces and nephews.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Heathers House, HIA Hospice in Fargo, ND.
