 Dr. O.G. Askland, 84, of Fargo died Monday, March 8, 2010 at Elim Care Center under the care of Hospice.

 ODean Gerald Askland was born June 18, 1925 to Luther and Maylo (Anderson) Askland, on the family farm near Reader, ND.  He graduated from high school in Bycyrus, ND.  Shortly following graduation, he entered the Navy Air Corp V-5 Program.  He was discharged in 1946 and pursued his pre-chiropractic education at NDSU before graduating from the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA.  He continued his post-graduate education at Northwestern Chiropractic College in Minneapolis, MN. 

 ODean met his life-long companion, Lorraine Thorson, in Harwood, ND.  They were married on Valentine's Day, 1948.  After college, they moved to Fargo, ND where he opened his chiropractic practice.  After eighteen years, ODean and his brother Thomas designed and built a new clinic in 1967.  He practiced for forty years and retired in 1991.

 He is survived by his wife, Lorraine and daughters, Shanda Askland, Upper Cormorant, MN and Lonna (Michael) Rinke, Fargo, ND; four grandchildren, Tara (Brannon) Kadrie, Taya (Brian) Fischer, Bret and Dana Rinke; brother, Dr. Thomas (Mavis) Askland, Fargo, ND; sister, Dr. Patrice (Dr. Al) Toensing, Tucson, AZ. 

 He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Beverly (Bonnie) Stephens.

    to the family. I was a patient of Dr. O.G. many years ago. Not only was he a super
    chiropractor but his stories were very entertaining!
    I actually looked forward to a treatment. I remember his story of how El Cano Dr was named and how he laughed as he was telling it. Again, my deepest sympathy on the loss of a very warm person.
